I am blown away at how many people are applauding Greta Thunberg for D-shaming Andrew Tate.

It's funny to me that anyone would posit cumshots as acts of degradation in the first place. Porn geared toward men is >95% visual. That's it... that's the reason. Internal ejaculation feels great but doesn't have the same visual effect.

Its the same reason some guys are into female "ejaculation" videos... It adds more of a visual element to the orgasm.

That's not entirely true. IIRC external ejaculation became a thing in porn when the AIDS scare caused the porn industry to need a way to make men's orgasms less risky to the actresses.

I'm not sure that both of you folks views are mutually exclusive. Could it not be the case the that this practice emerged as a STI risk mitigation strategy, that turned out to be well received by the audience? Indeed, I would say that the consumer is ultimately what made this practice lucrative enough to be a viable product to keep in the market.

My post wasn't intended to say they were completely wrong, only that they weren't telling the whole story.

Tbh the wording came off that way. There is a difference between telling someone that their explanation isn't entirely true vs that their explanation is incomplete. The former suggests that the account of a given phenomenon contains falsehood while the latter suggests that it lacks data.

To be clear, both are allowed here and a great discussion is always cool. My comment wasn't meant to suggest that you made a claim that his conclusions were completely wrong. My point was simply that it is entirely possible for both of you to be 100% correct.

Admittedly, it's a semantic issue. But really how much time could be saved in our search for truth if we pay more mind to the analytic side of language?

I came of age before AIDS, and I can tell you "money shots" definitely predate the AIDS scare.

One of the most contentious topics in the sexual arena is that of pornography. While some researchers focus on the costs and benefits of consumption, others focus on questions surrounding the objectification or degradation of women, with relatively little focus on the men involved, and the appeal of visual sexual stimuli more generally, including what that may tell us about the sexual interests of the consumers. In this study, we focus on what factors influence men’s and women’s perceptions of sexually explicit images, in particular the ubiquitous external ejaculation.

Sex differences in perceptions of the images are examined as well as the influence of the emotional affect of the recipient of the ejaculation, the sexual orientation of the participant (are they looking at an image of their preferred sex or not), and a number of individual difference factors, including religiosity, Dark Triad personality traits, mate value, short-term mating strategy, and disgust sensitivity.

Overall, the largest influences on perceptions were the direct effects of target emotional affect and sex, sex of viewer, sexual orientation of viewer, short-term mating orientation, and level of sexual disgust. In addition, substantial variation in perceptions was explained by the interaction between sex, sexual orientation, and target sex.

The importance of positive affect in the images as well as the lack of association with psychopathy again suggests that the appeal (or at least the ubiquity of the images in pornographic material) is not rooted in degradation, but in some other aspect of short-term sexual psychology.

Here's an article about the study that interviewed the authors.

https://www.psypost.org/2022/12/psychology-researchers-are-taking-a-serious-look-at-64421

Some academics and lay people have suggested that the goal of pornography is to degrade women and have used the external ejaculation as an example of such. However, I didn’t find this convincing, as there are a lot of external ejaculations in gay porn without any women around. In addition, I had read an article in Playboy by James Petersen and he made an interesting point: ‘What makes ejaculating on the outside degrading…while ejaculating inside… sacred? …masturbating guys ejaculate on their own bodies all the time and not one says ‘Oh God, I just degraded myself.'

Basically they found that men enjoyed those scenes more if the women looked like she was enjoying it.

Women on average liked the scenes less (consistent with enjoying pornography less) but still followed the same pattern.

So this contradicts the idea that men enjoy porn because of power fantasies or to degrade women. It is instead consistent with other research that shows men get off on their partners having fun with them.

I don’t think this logic holds up. Erotic Degradation exists as a BDSM kink and participants prefer if both are into it, that doesn’t make the kink not degradation. You can like the degradation aspect without it being so that you would like to see the other person uncomfortable.
