Encouraged wife to start a side hustle and earn some income. I presented her with the opportunity, she bit. I want her to own it. This is her thing to contribute something financially. I set clear boundaries about this. Doesn't stop her from continually trying to involve me. Lots of opportunities here for leadership. I put her on a task, I will support where I see the need. Last night, she was trying to make some labels in Word.

  • Her: You would have had this done already.
  • Me: Yep. I'm off work, enjoying a drink.

I do this with my subs at work too. You don't always spoon-feed the answers. Sometimes leadership involves letting them figure it out. Giving hints and clues. This is my MO at work. One of my technicians described it like this: "You give us the shadow and expect us to reveal the face". Hand-holding isn't always leading. Sometimes you have to let them try and fail to learn more valuable lessons which will grow them as people and give you a more reliable partner long-term.
