This may not be much to most of you, but for me it was a victory. If anyone has read my previous posts on here, I recently started to attempt to implement TRP and MRP theories into my marriage and life. My BP upbringing fights it all the time, but I am doing my best and read most all the posts here to attempt to always keep on the straight and narrow.

Today I finally got all of our financial worth put under my direction. My wife has some mental health issues (severe anxiety, depression, possible Bipolar) and would blow wads of money on nothing. Her claim was that it helped ease those symptoms. Bullshit I know, but I used to want her happy and I USED to think letting her do it would help her. I now know the complete opposite is what she needs. People with those issues need boundaries. In all aspects of life. This morning I got her to agree to give me her credit cards and debit card. I get both of our checks every month in my account and I shoot her an allowance to her Simple card. Simple is a good tool for budgeting if anyone is interested. Now she gets her little bit for gas and cigarettes and whatever, leaving about 90% of the rest of the funds to me for paying bills and saving and what not. Before she was spending probably 40%. No need for the lectures on that. It should be rectified at this point. Debit card is shredded and deactivated, credit cards are in my wallet.
