It's no shock that it gets harder to find real connection as you grow older. I'm a single 27yo living alone and my good friend suddenly stopped communicating for reasons I don't know. I reached out to him but then said I'm a 'lost cause' and can't be saved. I was very hurt when he said that because it came out of nowhere. I never saw any clues in our friendship for him to say that out of the blue when we were working together and still hanging around genuinely. He never brought up any problems he had with me. I'm so confused and depressed bec I always though he was someone I could rely on and I don't know what I did to make him feel like I'm not worth being around.

Losing a close friend makes me not want to open up anymore. And I start to believe him too that maybe I really am a 'lost cause'. I don't hate him at all. If given the chance, I'd wish to be friends again. But I don't know if that's worth wishing anyway.
