Edit: someone shared the article below with me that makes me a little less optimistic. I would suggest everybody get familiar with the voat.co sub in case one day this place is just gone. My impression is they will ban subs little by little to avoid a sudden mass-migration of users. I will lose a lot of faith in the world around me if this place gets a banned - I've never been a bigot or held bigoted views about anyone, and it isn't cool to get treated like one anyway.

A bunch of subs have been banned. I don't know exactly which ones, but it's pretty clear to me why a sub committed to posting pictures of people against their knowledge to make fun of them would get banned. I have to say I agree with that sub getting banned (although I've never seen it) - school-children have been known to commit suicide for having their pictures mocked online.

However, this sub HAS NOT BEEN BANNED. And there is no reason for it to be banned, because THIS SUB DOES NOT HARASS PEOPLE. I would advise people pay particular attention to the following to make sure it stays that way (I have never seen these things happening here, but a reminder is always good):

  • Do not post personal information about anyone. No Chuck Johnson style article-links or other doxxing bullshit. People have a right to conserve their anonymity.
  • Don't post pictures of people from the public with the sole intent of ridiculing them. Doesn't matter who they are. Have never seen this happen here, but it's just not right - if some asshole put a picture of me "manspreading" somewhere I would want them banned from Reddit.
  • Don't post usernames of other Reddit users with the intent of driving troll traffic to their inboxes or whatever.
  • Always use archive.is when linking to external blogs. Don't post the articles directly. They can see where their traffic comes from, and the less connection there is, the better.

Just keep the conversation on point, and discuss issues to do with male advocacy and human rights! That's what this sub is about. I have never seen anyone get harassed here, and I don't imagine I'll start to see it now.
