He warned that Adams State’s “federal financial funding” was at risk if it continued to exclude men on Women’s Night or failed to provide “an equal number of men-only hours,” as Stanford University did last year to resolve a similar complaint.

This is important. Personally I would have zero issue with a women's night, as long as a men's exclusive night was also being offered. If women feel they are entitled to have spaces, events, etc. men have every right to an equal version. I'm sure there are a lot of self conscious guys out there who'd feel uncomfortable exercising with women nearby.

pretty sure this is what everyone was thinking about segregation

[–]PuddleOfMush 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As in racial segregation? You mean to tell me that feminists have become regressive? Shocker.

The point of my comment was that if there were legitimate reasons for "women only X" there are reasons for men to have the same. For every woman that doesn't want to be looked at while she works out there's a man who feels the exact same. For all the women who want girl time without men around? There are men who want guy time without the ladies around.

I doubt it, black facilities were never equally funded at all. In fact, the whole reason segregation fell apart legally was that the state government had consistently refused to maintain separate and equal facilities at all levels. You are suppose to have separate but equal, but blacks were large scale excluded from many of the programs and funding was nothing near per capita that of white.

It was not like nowadays where you can walk into a girls school or a woman's gym and it be of roughly equal quality of a man's school or gym. It was like the white school received state of the art funding like a top tier school and the black school either didn't exist, had no funding or held classes in the grass outdoors.

In some cases you had entire state schools like U Texas, which made zero accommodation or basically "equal" zones for african americans. So they had the separate part down, but where was the equal medical school, dental school, education school, law school, business school, grad programs, etc? They didn't even try to uphold the facade of that. They claim they were separate but equal, ok, I could by that, but where is the equal number of black regents, black professors, black deans, black researchers, black grad students, blacks staff and admins in a separate part of campus?

I can just imagine the angry feminist response

"Title 9 was supposed to benefit women, not any discriminated party and especially not men!"

[–]Lethn 12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No no no, that's too confrontational and prejudiced even by their standards, even though they're idiots they're smart enough to know what that would do for PR. Like feminists who have been sued for creating women only groups and stuff like that they'll play the victim and pretend that if men want to go off and make their own groups they can. All the while siccing their activists on innocent men who just want to do their own thing as well.

They'll also claim this guy is just a misogynist who hates women and doesn't care about their safety and that's the 'real' reason behind him filing a complaint. They do this constantly, in the background when no one is looking they shit on men and attack them then when any man retaliates they publicly decry it and play the victim.

[–]White_Mlungu_Capital 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have no problem with women's only groups, so long as men are permitted the same.

[–]PlatinumBeetle 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I do have a problem with sex segregation, I only feel comfortable in mixed company, but if you're going to allow segregation then it needs to be allowed for all. None of this "lots of women only spaces for me, no men only spaces for you" double standard stuff.

[–]White_Mlungu_Capital -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then go in mix company, I prefer not having women around, they slow down world progress.

[–]GrumpyGayGuy 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My University has this online Title IX Sensitivity Training Course and I absolutely refuse to acknowledge its existence because I am more than convinced that only the male students are being sent this sensitivity training course. As of right now it isn't mandatory, but I am still abstaining from it until I know for certain that not only are female students are given this course but that it is exactly the same as the mens course.

[–]coke501 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, man need to make sure that no woman is discriminated against, ever.

See. Same class for both.

[–]grandmasbroach 16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

My school tried this. The thing is, the women didn't actually work out, if they showed up at all. So, I'd go to the gym sometimes later at night because I work too. The gym would be empty, I'd sign in, and then someone came and told me I couldn't work out because it was women only hours. I did a Travolta look around and said, no one's here. They told me someone might come and my presence would make them uncomfortable. Not being a pussy like 99% of people now, I told him I was finishing my workout and to do what he needed to do. He left, I finished my workout, no one ended up coming to the gym area I was in. When I left, the ladies were all in the rock climbing area on their phones, no one was working out in the least.

Guess what school? Good ol Evergreen! I ignore almost all the stupid diversity shit. Most of these people don't know how to react when you simply tell them, no I'm not playing that game. There's not any teeth to most of what they do. Meaning, they can say they want it one way, but have no means to actually enforce it. So, I highly recommend you just tell these morons to fuck off, and then go on with your day bevause they're not worth the time or mind.

Evergreen , the resume killer?

[–]McFeely_Smackup 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you too can earn a degree in attendance.

[–]White_Mlungu_Capital 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol, just identify as a woman.

ie.

Staff: Excuse me sir, this is women's hours, only women are allowed to workout now, you'll have to leave.

You: Excuse me, did you just call me sir! I can sue you for discrimination, what you said to me is transphobia, and I will have you know, I have rights, now am I going to have to take up your conduct with the manager?

And I am not making this shit up either

" Words that are TRANSPHOBIC and WHY "

" Using the wrong pronouns or making assumptions about others’ gender identities. It is vital that we respect the names and pronouns that people prefer. It is impossible to know without asking. If you are not sure, ask: “What are your identified pronouns?” "

UC Davis LGBT Resource Center

https://coe.uga.edu/assets/downloads/dei/internal-resources/words-that-are-transphobic.pdf

The trick in all this is to use their own bullshit against them, because none of it makes sense anyways. And the staff is probablyy not trained up on all the latest bs, because it keeps changing anyways, in many of these states, you really could sue someone for transphobia simply for the person calling you sir or presuming your gender.

[–]PlatinumBeetle 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They told me someone might come and my presence would make them uncomfortable.

They said the same thing about black people. For all the same reasons too. The hypocrisy is astounding.

[–]thefudmaster 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If someone is so concerned for their safety at the gym, they can purchase gym equipment for home use, or get a membership at Curves.

[–]FissureKing 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Or just have a "Men Only" night.

[–]thefudmaster 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We don’t need gyms to have a men only night.

[–]SoccmomscantparK 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why? I'd really like to hear your POV

[–]thefudmaster 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Meaning it does absolutely nothing for me, as a man, to have a “men’s night” in any capacity. When I hang out with my bros, it’s men’s night anytime I say so.

[–]mgtowolf 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am surprised they didn't just make a men's night, at like 3AM on a tuesday or some other nonsense to make it seem equal on paper, while continuing to spit on men.

[–]JcbAzPx 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah yes, the true spirit of separate but equal.

[–]Tmomp 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if the people who created and supported the policy feel oppressed, having lost this bit of their privilege?
