I basically don't care what others think for themselves but I know that this society tends to police people for simply looking at people in the open. You know who does that? A hyper-agressive local drug dealer who looks around the place and goes ape mode for just looking his way. We all agree that such people should be locked and keys thrown away, but I noticed that we somehow agree that women in tight, revealing clothes and stuff should NOT be looked at because they're feeling uncomfortable for you looking at the cracks and slits and it should show more than they intended. Well, that's just retarded.

I can agree with a lot of stuff, let people live their life how they want - but this is directly messing up with others. Bur if you "don't want to risk pervy men see your crotch" due to some motion and specific pose while you sit, walk or whatever else you might be doing? Well, you know how to ensure they won't see more - but you choose to wear what you wear. That makes you a b1tch - shall we all gouge our eyes in case if you show up on nudist beach or even on a regular beach, because you don't like people looking at your bum?!

The application of the term "objectification" is almost completely subjective.

For many women, the threshhold for acknowledging that they are being objectified (let alone being offended by it) has a lot to do with two main factors:

How attracted they are to the person "objectifying" them and...
What they stand to gain by being "objectified".

Certainly not ALL women are like this, but a fair number are, and often the most vocal complainers about it are the ones who experience it the least.

Further, women do plenty of "objectifying" of men.

Both sexes invite it, and use it as a mating strategy, and women can use it as part of their career advancement strategy.

Women invite it with their style of dress and makeup, and men invite it with ostentatious displays of wealth.

Again, it only really offends women if the people objectifying them aren't the ones that the woman wants to objectified by, or if the woman being objectified doesn't stand to gain anything from it.

Have you ever heard of a woman complaining about being let into a club without having to pay a cover charge, or ahead of men who are standing in line waiting?

Have you ever heard of a woman complaining about getting a promotion because she was more physically attractive than an equally or even more qualified colleague?

You WILL hear a woman complain about objectification when she isn't taken seriously in the boardroom because she's just a pretty figurehead without the actual qualifications to be there, but hey, at least she's there, while the qualified people that got passed over for the position have to wait until she quits to get a shot at that position.

We constantly assess the world around us and make decisions about what we see. Is someone a threat or friendly? We of course assess if we are attracted to someone or not.

This is human nature and it’s a part of our survival and reproductive strategy. It’s nothing anyone should have to apologize for.

To me its a problematic concept because by its own criteria all of us are guilty, due to how human function in intake info and labeling stubs, and sadly all action are somewhat transactional anyways. Further more even in extreme cases only where treating people as mere object is also very hard to identify because we are limited to more obvious pattern of the surface level like treat people similar to an already existing analogical object, because a knife which is an object i cant do whatever i want with it, i need to use the knife properly to get result same with human, its very hard to know. Its better we focus on the action that came along with it and this itself because it in itself is unavoidable and not every case actually have bad result.

Women are less likely to really harm men when they lust after them in a bad way. Men are more likely to do it to women because we are stronger than them.

Men should solve their problems of lust but those women complaining about it are not any better. They probably lust after the chads all the time.
