I have no idea what this is about.

[–]das_baba[S] 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The comment chain. AOC (who has a degree in economics btw) and the sub doesn't seem to know how unemployment rate is calculated, and they're not willing to hear anyone tell it to them.

[–]Hadashi_blacksky 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah, I see. Alright then. Thanks.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I expected this to be about her claim that there are three branches of the US government -- the presidential, the House, and the Senate. This girl is the answer to the question, "What if Sarah Palin were a liberal?"

[–]ShylockSimmonz 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Her claim was that there were three chambers of congress. She then corrected that to three chambers of government which was still wrong as it is three branches not three chambers.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She also said the three "chambers" are the Presidency, the Senate and the House! LOL! Still, she got ONE right, that's something. Yes, she's a real brainbox, this one...

"if we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House in 2020 …”

[–]das_baba[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's a dum-dum. Too bad because when it comes to climate change, her ambitious plans are exactly what the US needs. Wish she was someone who credible enough who could actually defend them.

To be fair, if you - correctly - point out the mistakes of Trump on a clearly right-wing site, you also get downvoted. Tribal adhesion trumps (!) facts to an ever growing extent...

[–]das_baba[S] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very fair point.

Dude shes wearing clothes leave her alone. Everyones jumping on this poor chick for really just being young and having different worldviews... like choose your battles.

[–]Diesel-66 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

She's incredibly naive. If she was just a bartender, nobody would care. But she shouldn't be a politician

[–]purplequarters9 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

She has a lot to learn yes, but to be fair the standard was set when trump won, someone without experience is apparantly the new thing. Shes still in her 20s, just be reasonable, to attack her for wearing expensive clothes is just weak.

[–]Diesel-66 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Trump at least had the (horrible) argument that he was a successful businessman.

She's arguing for social programs do yeah wearing high end $$ clothing is bs

[–]purplequarters9 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So is your logic that if she wasnt wearing expensive colthes shed have more standing to advocate for social programs? This idea that critiques of capitalism have to hate money is beyond illogical....

Her tweet also clarifies that it was for a photo shoot, im sorry but your outrage is unwarrented

[–]Diesel-66 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Your taxes will go up but I'm keeping my stuff.

Limousine liberals

[–]purplequarters9 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Id suggest learning nore about the policy proposed if thats your perception haha. Cant do too much else to help ya. Happy thanksgiving brother bear

[–]Diesel-66 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's advocating for trillions in new govt spending while making nothing.

[–]purplequarters9 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What do you mean while making nothing? Is there a requirment to finacial success in order to advocate for different policy? I cant explain economics to you during breakfast, but your argument again doesnt really hold water.

[–]bkrugby78 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What should she be wearing tattered rags everywhere? You can’t fight for social programs if you wear high end business suits? (Which is basically the uniform for politicians)

[–]das_baba[S] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I like her very much. The point of this post is the tribal nature of r/feminism.

[–]purplequarters9 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

To be fair the post you linked had a comment saying "how can you like her! Shes clueless" its all about approach right? Had the comment started differently you probably coukd have started a discussion on the topic.

[–]das_baba[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Huh? I was trying to link to this comment: "Mathematically, she's not wrong. Getting multiple jobs would drive up employment numbers without driving up actual employment. "

Which is simply incorrect, yet being upvoted

[–]purplequarters9 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Youre right, i didnt see that right away, probably my subconcious bias led me to that. But in that regard, youre corrcect, my apologies.

[–]njullpointer 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

actually that is correct if you don't count the number of people with jobs, but instead count "the number of filled job places". It's wrong is the point.

[–]das_baba[S] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why would you count the number of job places when talking about unemployment rate? There's a term 'job vacancy rate' for that. This woman's got a degree in economics, I'm sure she knows this.

If you're making a point about semantics of incorrect vs wrong, I apologize I'm ignorant about the difference, it's my second language.

She is a politician. For that alone she is free game like any other politician. If she is not OK with that she chose the wrong profession. She does not get to be a safe snowflake.

Also, she is a total fake. She is an intelligent well educated high middle class woman with a political activist career pretending to be a dumb poor woman from the Bronx working as bartender to appease to their followers as if she is one of them when she is just a posh girl. She is a dishonest hack, acting for her target audience and taking them for fools.

[–]purplequarters9 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thats trump doing that you nitwit....

You must be damn scared of the change she stands for if you have to go that route... all of her supporters know who she is, but that may be because the more educated an individual gets the more likely to vote democrat... i wonder why theres a coorelation.

If youre too fucking dumb to get that then keep voting for people who dont have your interest in mind, watch your sad senile life gets worse and worse.

[–]destarolat 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Lol, your hero is going to kowtow to the democratic plantation owners while getting rich. She is acting, she is a posh girl posing as modest to get fools to vote for her. See you in couple years, but don't say you weren't warned.

[–]purplequarters9 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats part of being a polotician stupid, you make a good amount of money, youre literally complaining about what trump did to get the popular vote but arent smart enough to recognize it, go be bitter some more ya putz
