Bear in mind that this is a civil trial, so the only bad thing that could happen to Heard is that she is forced to pay money to Depp. However, she is countersuing for twice as much as Depp, with what I consider to be no grounds whatsoever. Nevertheless, the question of her suit must be answered in this trial as well.

This gives the jury ample room to apply a pussy pass and maybe Depp will "win" the suit, but depending on how the jury sees it, the victory could be nullified through pussy pass and the jury setting her financial award on her counersuit equal to his.

I remain guardedly optimistic that Heard will be found liable and have her countersuit dismissed, while being forced to pay Depp the entirety of what he's suing for.

One positive outcome of all this is that it is bringing very public attention to intimate partner violence situations where men are victims and women are perpetrators, or at the very least, that many intimate partner violence situations contain both dynamics. (And yes, I know there'll be some people who will still take Heard's side only.)

This is not to demonise women, but to challenge the status quo for domestic violence policy in many countries, deliberately gendered approaches that have the effect of making male victims invisible.

They are clinging on to just one sarcastic text. The media doesn't want to say or will downplay any of the bad stuff that Heard has done. Johnny Depp might win or might even get a few million from Heard but his reputation and star power will tank, he will resort to indie films or only be a side character. They want to destroy his character just like they tried to destroy Kavanaugh. Tell me why the same company and directors that fired Depp is still employing Ezra Miller(they could have edited his character out the month before the movie hit theaters just like they did with Spacey) is it because they don't want to make a marginalized person unemployed?

I hate to say it, but I think she will win, we live in a very gynocentric society. Remember this is a defamation case. There's no doubt she abused him. There is no doubt he lost $millions by having his pirate movie sequels cancelled, but that's not the legal question. Depp is suing Heard for three counts of defamation, citing her op-ed that was published on The Washington Post, she never specifically mentions his name in that article, she just claims to a a victim of domestic abuse. Its hard to prove defamation without a specific accusation.
