Hey all, I'm posting this to get some opinions on what happened to me at work this week.

Some backstory, I'm 23 and working my first job out of college at a hospital. I've been there around a month now doing work with patients so all I do is walk around the hospital to visit patients in their rooms. I carry a clipboard and laptop, and have an assigned polo, so nothing special or attention getting.

I like to think I walk with a purpose and present myself professionally. Maybe I look more serious than I think. So now to what happened. I got on the elevator, some people got off, so it was two female nurses talking and myself. The nurses were talking so I didn't say hi or anything. I only went up one floor but on my way out of the elevator I heard one of them say to the other, "small man complex, huh?". I'm positive this is directed at me since there was no one else around. I think it's ironic since I'm over six feet tall, but I understand the context, maybe I think I'm more important that I am. But I don't, I just take pride in my appearance and want to be taken professionally. I can't help but think if I was a female, the nurses would encourage such confidence. But being a male makes it a bad thing. I really don't understand the necessity of the comment, I've never even seen this nurse before. Either way I'm not taking it to heart but just wanted to share and see the opinions out there.
