Hmm, not sure what happened, it's at least showing the article when I click it 🤷

I'm so confused by this whole anti-circumcision thing. Like, I loved my circumcised dick, he's got a nice little head that turns into a hammerhead in the heat of battle.

All the love for the uncircumcised, that's great too, just saying I love the fact that I was circumcised.

What's the crux of the argument, why are guys so up in arms about this?

[–]BackgroundFault3[S] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This, it's only 10 minutes. "The Penis-Sex Education 101" video to see how it affects both partners. https://youtu.be/BgoTRMKrJo4

http://www.savingsons.org/2015/09/foreskin-and-its-16-functions-not-just.html?m=1

It decreases sensitivity, sensation and function. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23374102/

The glans becomes less sensative and what's removed is more sensative than what's left after circ. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17378847/

The effects on women. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10349418/

So many things can go wrong. 200+ boys die each year in US alone https://youtu.be/fJAHuElemF8

Here's a big list of all the damage it does, watch the video "Global Survey of Circ Harms" from 2015 https://youtu.be/i39V2ZIONV8 I'm also restoring mine r/foreskin_restoration is real and the difference is amazing compared to not having the skin, you can ask anyone there that's added enough skin to know.

Yup 👍

For me it is simply bodily integrity AKA His body his choice. If someone wants their genitals cut as an adult and they are made fully aware of the potential consequences that’s fine, but genital cutting shouldn’t be imposed on infants and minors who can’t consent.

Lack of consent is the only argument I need to be vehemently against genital cutting. The fact that many men hate that their genitals were cut as an infant or child or regret choosing to have their genitals cut as an adult all for a host of different reasons just makes it worse (OP posted a lot of reasons). I’m glad that there are guys like yourself who don’t feel negatively impacted by genital cutting, but that doesn’t change that genital cutting does negatively impact a lot of men. Especially when the men who decide they really want it done can still just choose to do so as an adult when they can consent to it.

Further, if we look at it in a broader context of social issues. In terms of cutting, mens bodies are not being treated as their own while women’s are seen as completely sacred and belonging fully to that woman. This attitude shows up in other issues for example men not being taken seriously if they are groped or raped while women are taken seriously about these issues. Banning genital cutting of people who cannot consent could help out with these other social issues relating to bodily integrity and cause more victims to be taken seriously. I’m also pro abortion rights and I hope everyone can have control over their own bodies some day.

Hey thanks for your thoughtful reply. It's kind of a weird deal, when you frame it up as a consent issue, definitely worth thinking about

[–]Becki_Minaj 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No problem. Thanks for wanting to understand

[–]SnooJokes1401 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Lack of concent mainly. It's great if you like being uncircumcised but it'd still be better if we got a choice ya know?

[–]montylittt 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I think you're right

[–]montylittt 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

From a consent perspective issue, it seems like not great. From a public health perspective, I thought the issue was there's a higher risk of infection with uncircumcised?

[–]SnooJokes1401 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There are some benefits but they're slim to the point of being barely relevant. Cutting off a woman's breasts actually provides more health benefits then circumcision, but I don't see people arguing for mandatory breast reductions.

[–]montylittt 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haha well that's a good point

[–]No-Satisfaction-2320 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While I think that's true, it's nothing that basic sex ed can't fix. Very few people actually benefit from circumcision.

[–]Pr0X_JoshiGuy 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you learn how to clean it properly the chance of it happening is extremely low

[–]montylittt 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Hey team, I don't really care, but is it really necessary to be down voting me on this? Like, I didn't even know this was a thing til recently, so I'm asking to find out more info... it's an interesting issue and I can certainly see that there's a consent issue here, which tbh I'm not sure how I feel about yet 🤔

It's kind of weird to think about I could be missing out on full sensation. There's so many times I've cum so hard I thought I was going to die. Or when smoking weed, was 100% sure I had died. So if I still had the foreskin, I guess I might be dead right now. Not kidding though, one of these days I'm sure I'm gonna have a heart attack or aneurysm or something and it'll be lights out

But anyway, that's neither here nor there, I thought we were here to learn and explore new ideas??

[–]Becki_Minaj 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I could be missing out on full sensation

If you want to try something that is relatively low work just for fun you can always try using a fake foreskin product like the "ManHood". It's just a fake foreskin that you wear all the time between sex, masturbation, and washing until the head of your penis becomes dekeratinized (it gets smooth, shiny, and more sensitive from being constantly protected). It will take probably take 3 months or more of wearing it constantly for that to happen. It wont give you the movement that actual skin would, but it gives you some protection and you seem curious. I think it's simple and easy place to explore and you can always just stop wearing it.

But honestly given how happy you are with the sensations, it might not really be better. Can't get much better than 100% right? For others like myself it's a different story.

I was cut at birth and for a long time I actually thought everything was fine with me. Masturbation felt great, sex felt great, but at some point in my early 20s I realized I wasn't supposed to be taking 1-2 hours to reach orgasm and it actually isn't supposed to be difficult to reach orgasm. Telling my partner that I didn't think I could cum this time because I'm not even close when they were finished was a regular occurrence. I had a condition called "delayed ejaculation".

Then I found foreskin restoration and tried it out. After a couple months when I got enough skin to dekeratinize the glans and allow the skin to glide during sex and masturbation everything started feeling really, REALLY good and I had a ton of control over my orgasm that I didn't have before. Now I can finish in 5 minutes or an hour or whenever I want. My favourite thing to do is to wait until my partner is about to finish and time it so I cum at the same time.

I'm quite happy with my penis now (although I wish I didn't have the unsightly scar) and I feel blessed that I no longer have sexual problems, but I know first hand how damaging being cut can be.

down voting me

Regarding the downvotes I think many downvote because there is a type of comment that appears very often on anti-circumcision posts that says something akin to "Well I like my cut penis therefore it's fine to cut." and people knee-jerk downvoted because your comment starts off similarly with a statement that you like your cut penis.

To me your comment is different because you seem genuinely curious. But as you can see it's not really about the guys who are fine after they are cut. It's about the guys who are harmed or feel violated.

[–]montylittt 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah totally see how could be trigger happy on the down votes, given all that. Thanks for all the info. I didn't know all this before, so just processing...

I mean, I've already had a vasectomy so everybody can calm down, no babies will be mutilated as a result of this conversation, no matter what I think.

Given everything people have said, I'd probably vote no circumcision, were I having a kid though. Letting people make their own decisions is one of my core values, so that for sure makes sense to me

I'm not sure if I will try ManHood or not, but it's pretty interesting and I'm looking into it. Thanks for sharing!

Some compare it to watching TV in the latest model vs. watching TV in a black and white 1940s tube TV. Or hearing a symphony with parts of the orchestra missing.

You’re doing great. Most guys get really defensive…a pretty normal response too, I guess. I found out 15 years ago through this webpage:

http://www.norm.org/lost.html

“Hearing a symphony with parts of the orchestra missing” hit me in the feels.

I listen to classical music mostly.

Let’s see how you like this one:

And this one:

Edit: this one is a good way of describing how I felt for a good part of 2021, related to circumcision.

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not about what you like and what you don't.

Some people like puffed-up lips, they can go to a plastic surgeon and get a lip-job.
There is nothing wrong in that.

Its a cosmetic procedure. Anyone can get it done. As long as they are consenting adult.

That's the key!
Circumcision is effectively a cosmetic procedure.
So, any adult man can get circumcised, even for religion reasons. Nobody cares!.

What we are against is infant circumcision. (That's what we call MGM).

There is nothing wrong with adult circumcision.
Its infant and juvenile circumcision (MGM) that should be criminalized. Same way as FGM has been.

Most religious men will get circumcised eventually anyways (once they turn 18). Nobody is interfering with anybody's faith here.

What we are opposed to is mutilating young boys and taking that choice away from him. His body, his choice. As you rightly said!

[–]BackgroundFault3[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also check this guy out, he got cut as an adult and you'll hear first hand the damage it causes, this isn't the only video out there of course but he explains things very well. https://youtu.be/jFdpOwvOJIs

[–]BriefcaseOfBears 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why are we downvoting this guy asking a question? He's not advocating for genitally mutilating babies, he's a victim of such mutilation, and is asking good faith questions about the movement.

[–]popularinthe80s 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your dick being cut up can be your favorite thing in the world.. But it gives you no right to cut up a child's penis.

The next generation won't be as dumb, and they'll know Circumcision is a scam and damages the penis for life.

[–]happyness423 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I’m not pro-circ, but that looks like some trans activist trying to get out of work 3 days a month.
