Causes for Rape?

There is only one "cause for rape" , that someone decided to willingly and knowingly use force and violence to commit a crime of a sexual nature.

As to what leads to that decision; Desperation, frustration, alcohol, drugs, sunk cost fallacy (I'm already guilty of X crime, what's the difference if I do this other one?), etc.....

The problem is the U.S. definition of rape is mired in "consent games". Rape, the word and the usage, refers to force and violence. You don't accidentally beat the hell out of a woman to make her compliant to your sexual desires.

But I'm from/in Mexico, we generally USED TO believe in personal responsibility (goddamnit AMLO), and that means that if a woman , let's say, is boozing it up and makes decisions she later regrets, that's not rape, that's just slutty. reckless behavior.

That is a popular belief but horribly incorrect aphorism.

Rape is about sex, by definition. If there are elements of dominance involved, it is a byproduct of men being the dominant sex during intercourse.... this is the innate tendency, of course outliers exist but the reality is, men are suited for the dominant role, women suited for the submissive role, especially during sex, and thus a criminal sexual act will often have dominance elements, but that doesn't mean that it is "about power".

EDIT :

Hypothetically speaking, if rape were about "power" , we would see a more even distribution of , say, age and weight among the raped women. But instead there is a strong tendency for young, attractive women to be the ones targeted .... you don't see the data indicate old, obese women to be priority in this regard , therefore we can say that the argument presented by the SJWs/feminists simply does not hold water.

I am convinced the biggest cause is cluster B personality disorders. I believe researching and treating antisocial (aka sociopath or psychopath), borderline, histrionic, and narcissistic personality disorders would do more to stop rape than "teaching men not to rape".

Here's the cause of rape: there are monsters in the world, however much we might wish otherwise. Pretend they don't exist doesn't make them go away. We'd be far better off teaching women (and men) how to protect themselves and what to do if the worst does indeed happen. Teaching men not to rape not only demonizes all men for the actions of a few, it's also completely pointless; those who commit rape know what they're doing, know it's considered wrong, and don't care.
