Conscription, war, and aggression are never justified and are always immoral. Conscription is immoral because It is a violation of consent and personal bodily autonomy. Meanwhile war is immoral because it often leads to the loss of innocent lives, destruction of infrastructure, and perpetuates a cycle of violence and suffering. War rarely achieves long-lasting solutions and often intensifies existing conflicts. It brings immense pain and suffering to individuals, families, and entire communities. War is also often driven by political and economic interests rather than genuine justifications. It can be used as a tool to exert control, gain resources, or assert dominance over others.

That being said, If an immoral draft were to happen, I would want both men and women to be equally included in it in all positions. This will hopefully reduce the burden of combat we as men will have to do, and society might be more reluctant to address the moral issues presented by conscription once women are finally affected.

IF conscription is deemed necessary AND women should be “free” to be in the military as they’re “just as equally capable”, all combat positions open to them and the rest, then they should be not only conscripted but they should be sent into harm’s way at the same rate as men!

If feminists don’t like it, then they should be more careful about what they demand.

For those who believe that conscription is ok

I think the majority of people on this sub think it's not OK. Rather we acknowledge that conscription will NEVER be outlawed as long as only men are exploited by it. As soon as women get drafted then conscription days will be limited.

In other words. We would prefer there to be no draft but we don't live in a fantasy world so we'll settle for a draft that isn't a man-hating piece of shitfuckery.

There should be explicit protections that protect men from being drafted at a higher rate, or marketed to at a higher rate by recruitment centers, or assigned to dangerous positions at a higher rate. Equity.

Either abolish conscription completely or adopt universal conscription where all persons (men, women, trans*) are assessed based on skills then placed accordingly and deployed when necessary. So long as you are able bodied/minded. The DoD can afford to accommodate.

"Conscription" is a fancy word invented by the powerful to conceal their sins. Call it what it is: battle slavery.

IMO - conscription opinion is subjective.

Like there's a reason WW2 was a "popular war", and Vietnam was not. There's a reason why so many people enlisted into the US military after 9/11, but we're not really setting up a draft to go fight in Ukraine or Israel/Palestine.

I'm "okay" with conscription when there's a clear and present danger to my country. If I were Ukrainian, I agree it would suck to get conscripted to fight Russia - but as the saying goes, "Your are not obligated to like your job, only to do it." Kind of like how if I were Israeli, I'd be chomping at the bit to go fight Palestine, and vice versa, being Palestinian and chomping at the bit to fight Israel. Those kinds of "conscriptions" would be "more agreeable", taking my own US national bit of ego out of it.

I'm not agreeable to conscription when it would be like Vietnam. Taking my national ego out of it, if I were Mexican, and getting conscripted to fight with Russians against Ukraine? I'd be wondering "What the actual fuck?" the entire time.

In terms of men & women conscripted?

I think it should be equal, but also acknowledge that there are inherent, biological and physiological differences between men and women that generally makes men better fighters, and women better support.

That doesn't mean women shouldn't be conscripted; but that men will generally be better suited to fight on the front lines. If you're fighting a war and trying to win, it only makes sense to try and stack your own deck. It does not make sense to handicap yourself if you're trying to win.

My idea for it would lean toward women being more involved in the "safer" jobs in military - even if conscripted, they'd more often end up at behind-the-lines hospitals, doing logistics supply chain duties, and similar. These are, or would be, all "safer" jobs that wouldn't see as much turn-over due to being killed. This would trickle down to not needing to conscript as many women.

This doesn't even mean there can't or shouldn't be women in combat roles - but that they would typically end up in a vastly outnumbered minority out of those combat roles.

Part of my opinion extends into plain human biology and population growth concepts too, though.

There's a reason why men have generally evolved and become generally more logical, physically strong, and have a big instinctual ideal of protection & providing.

Our species is one that 1 man can impregnate many women a day, while each women is only on average going to carry one child for 9 months before birth.

It only makes evolutionary sense here that say 50,000 men with 5,000 women is not going to repopulate it's civilization as quickly as one with 5,000 men and 50,000 women. There is absolutely an evolutionary pressure here to "save the women" - it's how you ensure your tribe or civilization will repopulate after any loss of life (genderless), protect the women.

As a father I’m more than okay with my kids staying safe and at home with my partner. If a woman does not have a child it should be a mandatory requirement for them to be conscripted too.

Genuinely I don't think women should be conscripted because I don't want to work with them.
