So I work in a the construction industry, which is well known to be male dominated. I have been in this industry for about 10 years now

I am on a decent salary, I have quite a lot of experience in my particular trade, although I have reason to believe that a female colleague of mine is on a substantial amount more than me. Despite being less experienced, and technically a lower rank. And hasn’t even been at this particular company as long as I have. She has actually worked under me In many occasions in the past. Yet after conversations with her and other colleagues of mine I firmly believe she is getting paid a rather substantial amount more than I am. And it is undoubtedly because of her gender.

Yet whenever you go on social media or watch TV we seem to be hearing about how women are somehow at a disadvantage and that there is a gender pay gap and women are paid less for the same work. Yet reality paints a totally different picture from what I can see.

Just wondering if any of you guys have had a similar experience?
