That sounds consistent with this South African country study:

“Mothers were identified as the perpetrators in all of the neonaticides and were the most common perpetrators overall (71.0%; 95% CI 63.9%, 77.2%)”

In the U.S., I’ve read several sources claiming mothers commit more infanticide but not more filicide overall, and this is true of many other countries as well.

What I think is consistent in all the information is that vulnerable infants at least face more risk from their mothers than their fathers and I think it’s clear most people incorrectly perceive otherwise.

Just bear in mind when they report statistics like that they include the step father as the father.

It is actually quite rare for a biological father to kill his children unless the mother is playing games with custody

It's more than 70%, but they don't keep hard stats to make sure people can't attribute those deaths to women.

If we're not including the murdering of unborn children that could easily have been avoided with proper birth control, we have specific laws in place to try and prevent mothers murdering their children

Safe haven laws were invented because so many mothers would murder their kids.

Rollo Tomassi calls the the "Kill to party" dynamic. Women know that a kid makes them less attractive to potential partners, and will go all the way up to killing the child to increase their odds at getting a wealthy and high status partner.

I've known women who lied about and hid their children while dating, and those are considered the ethical ones by comparison.

It is the ultimate expression of selfish female nature, and society bends over backwards to hide it from view.

Edit: There's even a medical categories to cover for it:

SIDS: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. "Welp, kid died and the mother was the only one around. Must have had some unknown disease that looks like a pillow smooshed his face". (not saying babies don't die on their own, but this is absolutely used as a cover for infanticide)
Postpartom Depression: For when they can't quietly dismiss that the mother is a murderer (i.e., the father won't let it go), they come up with an excuse to avoid holding her accountable. (Which is really funny, because i'm sure all those school shooters are depressed with mental issues, too, but somehow that isn't that big a factor when the murderer is male)

TW: extreme child abuse

Filicide is a keen topic for me. You see, no understanding of filicide begins and ends with studying successful murders. I say successful because I know what it's like to survive attempted maternal filicide, as my mother tried to murder me when I was three years old.

And that's my point, modern psychological and neurological sciences have yet to figure out they're are not asking all the right questions about this terrible phenomenon. Maybe my experience is something the world isn't yet ready to explore. Anyhow, there is a paucity of study into attempted filicide survival.

And why is it important to consider this lacunae with respect to your question about filicide? I submit that all statistical studies about filicide are remarkably flawed for many obvious reasons but mostly this:

Studying attempts to murder children is just as instructive to understanding the hows, whys, whens, wheres, etc. behind the act.

And I suspect far more mothers than we'll ever know try to murder their kids but fail for all sorts of reasons. Studies of extreme physical abuse and torture infer that murderous intent is there.

As to feminist reasoning on the topic, holy fuck do these thinkers miss the supposed inclusivity aspect of their own fucking thinking when it comes to people like me. As do blowhard academics who think the letters after their names is sufficient on the topic.

Anyhow, happy to answer questions. Despite my outward bitterness, I truly want to help find answers.
