I think diversity based on economic backgrounds is the only kind of diversity that makes sense. Poor should be given a leg up because them being poor automatically denies them equality of opportunity.

The "equal outcome" myth is common when discussing SJW's but I see little evidence for it.

Feminists are not asking for equal workplace deaths, equal sentencing or equal parenting rights. And feminist politicians are certainly not asking for equal pay with the men who keep their lights on and their toilet flushing or the women who do their nails and clean their houses.

I understand where the myth came from -- SJW's claim to want eg an equal number of women in STEM and politics and a few other fields. But that's a fairly narrow definition of "equal outcome" and even here they are hypocrites -- they don't ask for an equal number of male teachers, nurses, veterinarians etc.

I don't think that is right either. It's better outcomes for women or it's sexism.

If equal outcome was truly the goal, why don't we see action to redress balance of men and women in college?

I am going to do a video on this later, but the short version is the equality of opportunity is a completely incoherent concept that has no basis in the real world.

To have equality of opportunity, you would need four things

1) Equality of Aptitudes (why is the most brilliant and inspired janitor not paid as much as the most brilliant and inspired basketball player?)

2) Equality of Capacity ( If there are 2 million 4.0 students but only 1 million college positions, what are the rest to do?)

3) Equality of Access (If i walk into a bank and ask for a small loan of a million dollars, would i get treated the same as Donald Trump?)

4) Equality of Station (It has now been repeatedly shown that low income student with good grades are less likely to graduate college then high income students with bad grades.)

That said, I agree with the posters below, the SJW movement is obviously not interested in equal anything, they wish merely to change who benefits from the inequality.

I find this term very similar to the communism ideal. Everyone is dealt given the same, no matter if you are working 50 hours or 1 hour a week. The final result of this will of course be that no one brilliant will go to the university. I wonder what they will call the new institute for brilliant people actually researching useful subjects.

What’s amazing is that they’ve convinced the world of an invisible and inherent racism and sexism that can only be corrected by a visible and explicit racism and sexism. It will be their own undoing, as merit will make its own path forward, and they will be diverse but left behind.
