Sadly, this goes beyond faking pregnancy to gain sympathy. One can buy fake pregnancy tests and fake paperwork online and use it to extort money from men, falsely claiming they’ve gotten someone pregnant. I’ve seen it in real life.

Probably the most insane thing that happened to me (in relation to the thread topic) was going on one movie date with a girl in high school, who then told people the next day that she was pregnant. She even told this to my face. She was even talking about it IN THE CLASSROOM before class had started.

Well, she was certifiably insane. Luckily, but also kind of sadly, all of her "friends" weren't really her friends. They knew she was insane. They were just being nice to her, tolerating her. So all of the people she told knew she was full of shit, and I dodged a reputation bullet.

And I feel like it's worth mentioning her friends were other girls. They had my back, which surprised me, as I'd already had some other negative experiences with girls by that age. She was cute but a pathological liar. All she really stood to gain from this instance of absurdity was attention. It blew over in about a month. Meanwhile I figured out that sometimes any press can be good press, and more people got to know me and I made some more friends.

My bf said his ex did this and honestly I thought she was like the only one ever and that is so fucked up this is a real thing women do…I’m ashamed of my entire gender right now. This is sick. I’m so sorry to you guys who’ve had to deal with disgusting women who do shit like this. So sad…
