This is Canada for you, you can be accused and arrested, jailed and publicly shamed with 0 evidence other than the accuser making a statement to the police. Teenagers especially don't realize the peril they are in going to parties, sleep overs, youth functions, even school and college. Intimacy can happen conceptually then afterwards regret/jealousy/insert any reason here/ can happen and the kid is facing very serious charges that can earn him double digit jail sentences, lifetime sex offender list, and destroyed reputation and lost education opportunities. The allegations can be completely made up but the charges are politically motivated (#me too) to prosecute and charges are rarely dropped before trial. And when it does get to trial it is the defendant's word against the accuser and that crap shoot can easily go either way. Serious crimes like theft and fraud are only getting deferred sentences mostly and its my opinion the system is so clogged with SA matters there is little court time for anything else. Perilous times indeed.

If anyone wants to play down the severity of this I know first hand because I was falsely accused myself and went through it. I know better.

Married for 10 years. My wife made a false rape allegation while we were in the middle of separation. I got arrested and she got the kids and my house automatically. It's been 3 years and I'm still trying to fight off her false accusations. She hasn't allowed me to see my kids but by law, I MUST pay child support or I can go to jail. And yes, I'm in Canada.

Look into the Canadian Centre for Men and Families. They have regular online support groups. You might be able to find some resources and at the very least a network of people behind you with no judgement.

I'm Canadian and my husband and I both were falsely accused by the family of a former foster child. It's hell but there's support, you're not in this alone.

Across Canada, acutely ill or medically fragile children being falsely labeled as abuse victims by child abuse pediatricians contracted by the child protection system, before comprehensive medical evaluation is conducted to rule out actual medical conditions that might present the same way first (commonly birth injuries, strokes, EDS, OI, Vitamin D deficiency rickets, BEH etc).

These wrongful allegations lead to trauma, unnecessary family separations, and prolonged legal battles for families already navigating complex medical challenges.This is not isolated and unusual. The Toronto Star has reported extensively on these cases, highlighting families affected by what has been called “medical kidnapping” (Toronto Star article). Additionally, W5 produced a documentary called Dubious Diagnosis, investigating the issue, showing the real impact on children and families (W5 segment). CAS of the Waterloo region is named in both as they have a track record of wrongful apprehensions of misdiagnosed children by child abuse pediatricians at McMaster hospital.

We have launched a federal petition supported by MP Chagger to raise awareness and advocate for policy changes to ensure children are fully medically evaluated before any abuse allegations are made to prevent further trauma caused to loving, non-problematic families.
