You are thinking like a rational person, who does not see this as a 'zero-sum game'. You allow for nuance and see problems on both sides. For that, you can call yourself a feminist, but you will not be tolerated in feminist-controlled areas. No need to believe me at my word, feel free to pop into any feminist group and raise an issue men have.

They will likely reframe it as a woman's issue that, when fixed, will solve the issue for men, or say something along the lines of "we are gonna focus on the issues of women first". Sure, they may flower the language up, but that is what will happen.

If you continue to push it, you will be shouted down and/or banned. We should know, many of us experienced the same.

no, that's a feminist narrative. The people telling men to man up are usually women too, the ones who mock men as virgins or having a small penis (ironically they are the usually bodily positivity feminists too lol)

BUT other countries are literally allowing men to get away with brutal raping and murder and slavery and child marriage and forced abortions or the opposite.

what? In those "other countries" men and young boys are also cannon fodder and have very little rights too. Men are enslaved, young boys raped etc etc. Almost all in the middle east that are men are genitally mutilated too.

why not go there and help?

because muslim > women on the progressive stack.

Hey appreciate you taking the time to get exposed to viewpoints different from what you are accustomed.

I do want to address some things that will make navigating this a bit easier.

When we talk about feminism, it’s not feminism as in equality for women. It’s 3rd wave feminism and the tactics and rhetoric that is used in present society.

You will come across blatant misogyny — this does not represent our community and we will typically downvote or call them out for it. Comments are not typically deleted by mods, so I encourage you to challenge those comments.

There are also many posts about women doing horrible things and you might wonder why we post these often. We post these for two reasons — to uplift these stories that get buried because male victims are typically ignored. And two, because we want to expose the reality that women commit evil too and often times get away with it. Highlight that all violence and misdeeds aren’t just committed by men. We aim to unveil the myth that women do no harm and believe women should be equally criticized and held accountable for bad behavior.

And last but not least, I say ‘we’, but we don’t all agree on everything. There is no singular message or ideas of conformity. You’ll see a range of political beliefs here and not many agree with each other.

I encourage you to keep informed and view this not as a movement you have to join or conform to all the ideas presented here, but rather use this sub as a way to better understand what you really think. If what you believe does make sense or does not.

Good on you for being open to viewpoints you're unfamiliar with.

If you don't mind, I would like to address a few of your points, perhaps to give you other sides to the story you haven't heard yet.

Okay yes maybe the pay gap is real

The pay gap is real, but the existence of a wage gap alone isn't evidence of discrimination. The wage gap is simply derived by using the earnings of men and women. But it doesn't take into account the fact that men tend to work in higher-paying jobs, work longer hours, and have more on-the-job experience than women do.

In addition to these factors, women are more likely to halt their careers in order to parent a child. Men can "continue climbing career ladders", while women are stopped. However, this is a choice that has to be made. Taking care of a child doesn't provide much in the way of money, but it is a lot more fulfilling than a job. Academics can debate why men and women make these different choices. The important takeaway, however, is that there are many reasons that men and women on average earn different amounts. One can't assume that “wage gap” statistics reflect on-the-job discrimination.

A study from the [U.S. Department of Labour](https://www.shrm.org/hr-today/public-policy/hr-public-policy-issues/Documents/Gender%20Wage%20Gap%20Final%20Report.pdf) determined that:

"it is not possible now, and doubtless will never be possible, to determine reliably whether any portion of the observed gender wage gap is not attributable to factors that compensate women and men differently on socially acceptable bases, and hence can confidently be attributed to overt discrimination against women."

In these third world countries you're referring to, men aren't the only ones who enforce and take part in oppressive cultural practices and contrary to popular belief women and girls are not the only ones affected by them, men are impacted quite a bit as well. Just to provide a few links:

Child marriage, certainly in the case of arranged marriages, isn't something that only happens to women. There are plenty of child grooms too, with UNICEF estimating that 156 million men were married before age 18.

From the article linked above "CARE found that boys, too, can suffer under the weight of a child marriage: psychological trauma, poor livelihoods, and little education are all results of being married too soon. The pressures mounting on young men to grow up, provide for their wives and new families, and focus on work, not education, can have lifelong ramifications."

Anyway. This is not to dismiss the issues that women and girls face, both genders are treated poorly in these countries and that certainly needs to change in some way. The problem, though, as you've already identified in your post is that when men and boys experience these problems people tend to care less about them than they do when women and girls are impacted. Boko Haram is a good example of this, where thousands of boys were kidnapped and burned alive by the terrorist group but it was only when they started kidnapping girls as well that most of the West started paying attention. This bias that people have where they're more concerned about women's well being relative to men's is, for lack of a better word, called the gender "empathy gap" and you can see it quite plainly in a lot of areas.

Like America just seems like it’s okay where it’s at compared to these other countries , why not go there and help?
