Good on you. Being able to enter into a discussion about men's rights in a way that isn't instantly shut down and lets you make an argument they may actually hear is a win.

Understand that people probably won't hear you the first time, but if you're respectful and don't let them speak against you without challenge, eventually your words get through. Just be careful to not push the issue too constantly. No one likes a person who only speaks about their activism of choice.

I've been in that exact same place. I limit which fights I pick but I won't let myself get brow beaten into silence when the matter is broached. Just be careful...you don't want to become the male version of the humorless feminist.

You know something? One thing I've found with my politics especially when it comes to feminism is it quickly shows me who my real friends are and especially which girls would be worthwhile as a partner. I can't imagine the hell it must be to be married or boyfriend of somebody who constantly thinks themselves as a victim of your oppression despite you having done fuck all to them.

It's kind of like with Trump derangement syndrome as well for fuck's sake, the last thing you want to do is hang out with some lunatic who goes apeshit at the site of a MAGA hat.

Great job. I’ve never been for the feminists, but I also kept quiet during anti-male conversations for the first 6 months of metoo. I started speaking up as the movement looked like it wasn’t just a fad. I look like the ‘angry guy’ but for the most part, I don’t care. Men. Speak up every time you can. The feminists sure do.

Good for you. Stand up for your rights because that's how society keeps men down. They laugh at us coming together and call it "weakness". It's bullshit.

I made my last family Christmas really tense after my sister tried to explain how bad women had it with rape and sexual assault. I rebutted that when all is accounted for, men are raped more than women. She literally scoffed, which set me off. Even after I lobbed a bunch of academic studies and articles at her, in the end she just chose to "disagree". Lots of people aren't going to want to change their minds, but they should at least know better than to shit on your rights in front of your face.

While that's all well and good, attempting to debate the subject with most people just makes them dig in their heels. Which is fine, if you don't really want to sway them.

But if you want to change their minds, I've found that the personal anecdote tends to be pretty effective. I like to tell a story about a guy I know who got completely screwed over by the legal system.

See, I know this guy who was going through a divorce. Him and his wife had been separated for about a year, and all that was left to do was to sign the papers.

The new residence he was living in was in a gated community. While finalizing the divorce, he had started seeing a new woman, and she was over at his house one night, and a mutual friend let slip that news to the wife. The wife was furious, and waited outside of the gated community until a resident showed up. She followed that car in, which is trespassing, and went to the guy's house.

She proceeded to scream obscenity at him while pounding on the door for 15 minutes. Finally, the guy opened the door because he was worried his neighbors were going to call the police. The wife immediately physically shoved him out of the way (he is a pretty small dude), and went into the house, where she proceeded to scream at him and his lady friend. Finally, after verbally assaulting the two, she stole some personal items and went back out to her car.

She put the personal items on the passenger seat, and rolled down the passenger side window to continue yelling at the guy. Meanwhile, he reached into the car to attempt to recover his personal effects. She then backed out at full speed, catching his arm in the window and dragging him 15 feet across the pavement, before he finally got free and rolled away. She then left.

Both of them called the police and gave statements. Both of their statements described the events exactly as I described them. The wife admitted to all of this. There was police bodycam footage of these interviews.

In spite of that, the guy was charged with assault on a household member (in spite of the fact that they were no longer household members), and was taken to jail over night. The prosecutor handling the case was sent numerous letters by the guy's lawyer describing what happened, indicating that there was bodycam footage clearly showing both parties admitting that the guy never abused her, but the prosecutor simply failed to respond to the letters in any fashion. The prosecutor also would not take phone calls from his lawyer.

When it finally got before the judge, she threw it out immediately. This was roughly 10k in various legal fees and lost wages from dealing with the matter later.

That's why I support men's rights.
