Disagree. Both men and women have massively contributed to society.

Two horses can pull 3x the amount one can. The founding fathers of democracies who were married also had a woman by their side supporting them and enduring the struggles that they did as well. Not to mention the dozens of women who helped slaves escape the south. Or the women who helped with civil rights in the 20th and 21st century with race and sexuality.

Let’s not forget tons of women who have contributed a shit ton to science. While for the vast majority of time it was the rich who suppressed women, there is a short period of time from around 1776-1964 which women were not allowed (at least in the US) to have the same rights as men.

Previous to 1976 literally 90% if people in the world was a slave to at least some king or power with very little control.

This is all to say that the “Patriarchy oppressing women” (In America) is only valid in which the common person had the right to be free and vote when women couldn’t. And that period is around 1776 - 1917) and then talking about discrimination based on sex, that wasn’t protected until 1964.

But before then the oppressor was the rich and the rulers. They sent men to war. They caused famines. They took peoples land. They broke men and women down to shells of humans.

I believe Women’s contribution to science, math, the arts, etc. would have been massively different if those stupid “women belong in the home” values weren’t a thing during the initial explosion of science in the 1800’s.

Had democracy been a thing in the 1500’s I would say the same.

I think it’s important to realize that for most of human history the rich and powerful dominated the poor. The 1% made life miserable for everyone. They ruled with an iron grip.

The 1% were men. But that can’t represent men as a whole because 99% of men were crushed under their boots, oppressed as much or more than the women.
