Regardless of gender people need firm boundaries. When there are threats of violence or in fact violence of any sort against a partner... verbalized boundaries or not it's time to leave. This sort of thing does not get better. It's not dependent on them being male of female making threats, or that the boundary has been established... its time to pack up and leave. Petty things like who's house is it, and who keeps what is irrelevant at this point. You pack your shit, you leave and if there is divisible property it gets divided. You call your family/friends first and stay with them, if they cant take you, you go to a shelter. Call the police and get a protection order established. It will take less than a day and there is no further contact outside of lawyers or an accredited mediator. End of story.

You need to give more context. Is it just a verbal threat? Were they arguing when he said this? Does he have a history of being violent? If it's just a verbal threat, then it's not a big deal because I've seen couples saying this all the time when they get into heated arguments.
