Help, I'm being oppressed

Was all won back in the 80s, and today, women actually have more rights than men, but you are correct, and part of a growing number of women speaking out against these crazy people in pink hats spewing hate for men and blaming them for everything from flat tires to rainy days.

According to Gallup, 75 to 95% of women do not even identify with feminism, and they are actually harming women, now, not helping them.

I was that guy that would stop and change a tire, help a woman in need, but I cant and won't any longer because I run a business, have a family, and simply cannot put them at risk should I be accused.

I avoid women I don't know, and it is my wife, a woman like yourself, that continually warns me to never put myself at risk with a strange woman. We are looking to hire a book-keeper, and she is very much against hiring a female because of the close proximity, and risk it puts me in.

It's sad what we've come to, and quite frankly it pisses me off, because most women are like you, but the crazies are doing the same thing to women they do to men, painting them all with their ugly brush.

Not about men and women, but sane men and women trying to get the keys back from the inmates.

Great comment. Personally I don’t think your opinion is all that unpopular. I have mostly women in my life and none of them are feminist. Even my very liberal gay sister is not much of a feminist. Sometimes those who are most vocal and most outspoken get most of the attention.

Men and women are not equal. We have very different strengths and weaknesses. The women in my life have these amazing qualities that just blow my mind. My 13 year old daughter for example is this little titan of internal strength.

I love women and respect women. However, I don’t want to see men torn down for the sake of someone’s or some group’s feelings of inadequacy. Women have had and still have some very valid complaints about how they are treated...but so do men.

As long as Feminism keeps being a part of our culture&laws, chivalry will remain dead. In fact, Feminism is a mutated version of Chivalry, one where men are expected to suffer and are also seen as the oppressors. Feminism has removed the respect towards men from Chivalry and has replaced it with disdain towards men.

In this era, being chivalrous to women is masochism. These days, if you try to be nice to a stranger woman, you'll be perceived as a desperate loser or worse you'd be perceived as a sexist. We can't expect men to be chivalrous when there's no reciprocation.

I love this post! It’s such a reflection on my own feelings and those of almost every woman I know. I don’t mix with feminists - I suppose you’d call my girlfriends egalitarians. Men are ( except for a very small minority) perfect in their masculinity and I hate that this is being eroded. Don’t make anything of the ‘small minority’ reference - there are nasties on both sides.

No, the majority of women doesn't. If this would be the case, men would have more rights. If this would be the case, the MRM would have gained some momentum because women would support it. Stop bitching at men for catcalling or not being sensitive or cussing or whatever shit you're offended by these days. They're men. Let them be men. Sometimes they're rough and dirty and inappropriate and damn it we like 'em that way. If they're being a creep or a jerk, okay that's different, but let them be men.

This is..... sad. Yeah, we've gained a lot of rights over time, can't deny that. But there's still so much work to be done. And the fact that you, as a woman, feel it's justified to be treated as an object just because "that's men" is disheartening.

And before you guys come for me, obviously it's not "all men". Men can be thoughtful and kind, and women can be rude and inappropriate too. But it's very normalized for men to see women as lesser, even when it's not consciously apparent even to themselves. Little actions like catcalling reveal a big pattern in behavior that seek to keep women beneath men, even today. If you don't realize this then you haven't questioned your place in the world enough.

Expressing distaste at being catcalled isn't "bitching". It reveals just how damaging small actions are to women who are constantly reminded that they are less than men every day. Think, do you catcall men? Probably not, right? Why do you think that is?

Additionally, you said that we already have rights and the fight is done. But the fact of the matter is, society is ALWAYS changing with time. It NEVER remains stagnant, it isn't possible. There will always be new issues that will arise, and the fight is never "over" for anyone at any time. Nothing will ever remain completely and totally satisfactory.

I do agree, though, that men need to be more appreciated for the good things that they do. But you don't have to throw yourself under the bus, saying that you deserve bad treatment, to prove it.
