Here's a suggestion.

Try actually reversing the sexes when you're relating some news event and get the reaction first. Then correct it to what actually happened. Better yet, take an event that's already familiar and that has a perverse reaction that's gender-based and simply retell it with the genders switched, maybe pick other people (like celebrities) that people can relate to as well of the opposite genders.

Well usually the point is something like "Imagine if the genders were reversed, this would never have happened if they were".

So it's usually hard to come up with examples. When one thing is totally acceptable to society than another, examples of the latter as less likely to come up. So it's easier to just imagine.

TL;DR, good suggestion, hard to do in practise.

I agree. Its like in the Zimmerman case where people say "imagine if the races were reversed", it is an untestable hypothesis that only serves to highlight and strengthen your bias.

"Imagine if Zimmerman was polynesian and Trayvon was a native american." Its nonsense.

entire sub's getting silly. i hate to be of that mind but the zeitgeist of this subreddit has taken a nose dive in integrity lately.

might be prudent to invest in a primer of sorts, i'm seeing a lot of awful stuff that can't all be subjective.
