I'm having a discussion with a friend about gender. She argues that gender is purely a social construct, while I argue that it has been strongly influenced evolution. She said "Gender is the way someone expresses their sex. It's things like girls wear make-up, boys don't cry, girls are better at cooking, boys are better at fixing cars." I'd argue that women and men are no less capable of doing these things, and there is nothing wrong with either sex doing these things but if we if it were simply a social construct as society became more free then we'd be seeing more women in male dominated fields and vice versa.
