Stop grading girls higher than boys for the same performance and stop punishing boys more harshly for unruly behavior. Take a deep long look at how teachers, especially female teachers, mistreat boys and favor girls. Start weeding out all the gynocentrists from the school system. Test their biases and fire anyone who shows a significant bias.

Then put more weight on exams rather than participation in class for the grade. Just because boys participate less in class doesn't mean they don't understand what's being taught or that they can't apply the knowledge which is what school should be about.

The article makes some good points, but as we often see with this subject, it completely fails to mention the incredibly relevant fact that for most of history boys weren’t behind in education, and therefore ignores the discriminatory changes that have caused boys to fall behind.

Yes, boys and girls learn a bit differently. That’s not inherently a problem however, the related problem is schools focusing on the way girls learn. Even there the solution isn’t to hold boys back, to partially adjust, a more effective solution is to have schools stop catering to just the way girls learn, and even that’s not the whole problem, so even that adjustment is only a partial solution.

As the excellent documentary you previously linked indicated, teachers grade boys harder and girls easier, as proven by standardized testing compared to teacher grading. That’s but one form of the discrimination boys face in education.

Until we recognize and reverse the actual discrimination that is the root cause of the problem, any attempt to help boys will be of minor help at best.

Boys and girls are not the same. Teaching them the same way must be child abuse for at least one of them, if not both.

Seperate schools with systems designed for the best outcome for each gender.

Men and women have the same IQ on average. However, as pointed out numerous times not just in this sub, men’s IQ varies significantly more on both sides, so there will be more above-average (but also below-average) IQ men than women.

This doesn’t mean that women are "less intelligent" than men, just that their IQs are clustered differently. There are very intelligent, average, and below-average people in both sexes.

This extends to all other areas and human activities as well. For example: The best male chess player in the world will more than likely beat the best female chess player. Does this mean that all women suck at playing chess? No, nobody is saying that.

Obviously, someone like me (or anyone else in this sub I assume :D) would stand no chance of winning a chess game against Judit Polgar, but the best male chess player in the world will probably beat her 99 percent of the time.

The way ahead

The successful schools that I surveyed have countered this narrative at every stage. Central has been a change in culture where the expectations are raised and support given.

Working draft summary

The following is a short, draft summary of what four successful schools are doing. We are continuing to work with these four schools, and other successful ones, to develop materials to help other schools achieve these results.

Culture and Ethos

· Hold all students to the same high expectations, regardless of gender.

· Provide parents with clear information on what is expected of them and how they can support their child's learning.

Literacy and Oracy

school hours need to be way shorter and cut out all the useless junk subjects that people don't even really use.

make it applicable to real life.

let's be honest here teachers aren't exactly doing a good job at presenting material. the subject may not be boring but it's not exactly entertaining mixed with dull monotone teachers it's even worse.

I suspect letting the parents choose which school to enroll their children would help quite a bit. Tie school funding to the number of enrolled students and the shittiest schools will die out. Gradually increasing the overall quality of schools. Also would enable shaming schools for treating boys unfairly. I expect many parents would not send their boys to a school that's proven to discriminate against them.
