I'm just curious what your take on this hypothetical situation would be. This is not something that has happened literally to me, although I think a lot of guys have been in somewhat similar situations before.

Okay, you have a female friend. Completely platonic. She's cute but not hot. You have no previous history as anything more than friends. She is a good friend but not your "best" friend.

She decides on a Friday or Saturday night that she wants to go out to a bar/club and get drunk. She had a bad day at work or whatever, and she's stressed out, and so she wants to get smashed and dance a little. Her female friends have other plans, and she doesn't have a significant other, so she asks you to go with her and be the designated driver. You agree.

You get to the bar, she orders two drinks, drinks them very quickly. You can tell she's on a mission to get hammered tonight, and she's already buzzing. She drinks a couple more. Within an hour, she's clearly intoxicated and walking up to strangers at the bar, saying random things, and then laughing at herself.

At this point you are basically just amused, but your level of concern is growing.

She gets a fifth drink and you can tell that she is in a euphoric state of drunkenness. You make some comment about how she needs to slow it down or else it will be an early night, but she just laughs it off and downs her drink.

She goes on the dance floor and dances wildly with some random guys, and even falls down on her ass at one point. She laughs it off and staggers back to you at the bar.

She has clearly got the attention of the single men at the bar at this point.

By now, you are no longer amused and are genuinely concerned for your friend. You encourage her to wait a while before she has another drink. She ignores you and orders another. You attempt to get her attention by grabbing her hand/arm and expressing that you are serious and that she is wa-a-ay too drunk already. She overreacts to your efforts to reason with her and gets you to let go of her by punching you in the chest (not too hard, but not exactly softly either). She (loudly) says "you're not my father!" or "you're not my boyfriend!" or something similar, and walks away, back to the dance floor.

You now notice that several men in the bar/club are looking at you and giving you dirty looks. Words are exchanged between them.

She is making a fool of herself on the dance floor, lifting up her shirt to expose her belly button ring and slapping the asses of the guys who are all dancing around her.

So. What is your next move?

Do you:

A) walk up to her on the dance floor and tell her that as her friend, you are going to do what is in her best interests, and that while she may hate you now, she will thank you in the morning, and basically grab her and drag her out of the bar and drive her home

B) wait until she comes back from the dance floor to get another drink, and explain to her that she is wasted and she needs to go with you because you are leaving now, and you hope she will come with you, but you are leaving either way

C) say to yourself, fuck it, and leave her there

D) something else (explain)
