Brainwashing isn't the really the right word for what you describe, although it is related.This is how I define brainwashing (by copying from a dictionary):

make (someone) adopt radically different beliefs by using **systematic*\* **and often **forcible **pressure**.

Collectivist ideologies such as cults, the Nazis, communists, socialists, etc, revolve around group based identities, which are therefore more vulnerable to manipulation and various effects which aggravate and distort themselves.

The way any type of Cult goes about recruiting people is they target people who are disenfranchised or feel disenfranchised. Feminism is no exception.

Cults require your core identity to be intertwined with the group identity and prescriptive actions. If your sense of personal agency can be replaced with a group identity, then you are not only fairly normal, but exactly the right tender that a cult is looking for. People tend to be impressionable in general and can rationalize a lot more than you’d think they could, especially when they lack direction in their life, which is common. There is no individual agency, individual rights, self ownership, or personal pursuits within the thought space of a cult. The individual’s right to self determination is not a concept within the cult mentality, and is quickly recognized as a threat to the integrity of the collective. Cult are, by definition, collectivist, though this does not mean they never embrace individuality or show personal compassion to their recruits, in fact, they often kindle someone’s sense of individuality in order to frame it and nest it within a greater sense of group identity. Making recruits feel personally important for bringing about the cause is actually very important, and what’s devalued is their personal pursuits and cherishings that deviate from the cause. Cults may be excessively compassionate to you and give you a lot of personalized care so long as you are open to serving their cause, but incredibly hostile and rejecting to you if you reject their cause. Rejection of their ideas and organization is taken as personal rejection, because they cant distinguish between them self and those things. Though there are a lot of battles, power politics, and vile manipulation & malice that will occur within cults, they are generally rather quick to force the acceptance of the view that what they did was justified by the cause. They are quick to resolve conflicts between members, but if they are not a reclusive cult, they are quick to escalate hostility against the outgroup.

Cults will begin their indoctrination with lighter descriptive elements about their worldview that will not be shared further unless you affirm them. This naturally creates secrecy about what they are, particularly about the deeper hierarchy in the organization. Prescriptive doctrines are usually held back from public eye and held back from newer recruits. You will be shamed and rejected if you reject their views, and the deeper into the organization you go, the more you’re required to believe to advance, which naturally keeps knowledge about the cult’s true ideas and aims locked behind tiers of increasingly radicalized members - a hierarchy of knowledge. But, the hierarchy still directs action of the recruits and members, because they don’t have to know. The ideas may be distriuted among them as a group, and when you put the whole group together -especially when lead by leaders who have the whole ideology- you get the whole collective cause happening at the same time. One term that has been used to describe naive recruits is “useful idiots”. An accurate description of the cult will not be affirmed by newer members if you told them, because they have not yet been introduced to that information or noticed it before, and they’ve not yet been groomed into accepting the more radical aspects of the organization, so they arent ready to accept their beloved organization would ever think such a thing.

Some more than others, cults attempt to separate followers from their personal responsibilities and replace them with group responsibilities. They attempt to separate followers from any social affiliations or connections outside the group, or get followers to self separate themselves so they create an echochamber of ideas and no escape route. Command, obedience, guilt, imaginative thinking, love bombing/nurturing behavior, repetitive tasks, chanting, authoritarianism, an all encompassing sense of great urgency, and cognatively tampering with one’s personal sense of identity, these are all tactics utilized as part of the infantilization/brainwashing process that cults use to indoctrinate. It’s more than just conceptual thought structures and wacky beliefs, it’s psychological manipulation and behavior modification. As time goes on, recruits in a cult will be suggested and increasingly coerced into actively serving the organization’s prescriptions instead of merely believing or self regulating themself to fit the worldview. Cults sometimes manage to influence a large number of people who are unaware of or dismissive of the deeper tiers of the cult (often appealing to the No True Scottsman fallacy). There will often be radical groups that are similar or even allied, and they draw their recruits from a less radical and more mainstreamed variation of the ideology.

There is a clear malice, delusion, and thirst for power, praise, & purity that drives leaders of a cult. Obedience without reason -obedience to a leader, deity, or ideal, for the sake of obedience or the promise of utopia or salvation- that is a typical a hallmark of a cult. Some cults will even aim for political dominance, and this is where we often see totalitarian and despotic leaders arise. A totalitarian state is essentially the political realization of culthood.

Feminism (or any Cult) needs to keep women unhappy and feeling oppressed all while it pushes for dominance and actually achieves it in one way or another. Women now have far more rights then men. If I were to call a woman in my workplace Darling or Honey, I would be up on report, yet they can call me that and if I were to complain, I wouldn’t be taken seriously.

Feminism makes women believe they are easily manipulated because they desire community and acceptance. They want and need to be endorsed and affirmed. When you have someone like that male or female it is easy then on to manipulate them by telling them that X is their enemy and to blame for everything and then by showing them the nice safe family they can join who will support them.

The reason they are able to be manipulated so easily can come from conformity because:

They genuinely want to see themselves as a member of the movement or group, so as to contribute to something bigger and more important than just their own lives.
Human beings are fundamentally social creatures: they seek acceptance and fear ostracism. Deviating from the norms of the group is dangerous, so people avoid conflicts by just mindlessly accepting what others say or do… unless they have courage.
Since their ideologies are flawed, any criticism is seen as an attack, so is not even considered. For example, this is evidenced in how people will ascribe an evil or hateful nature to an opposing viewpoint.
They confuse the group's identity with their own identity, perhaps due to a lack or denial of self-knowledge. So if the group accepts a view, or even if they think the group accepts a viewpoint, they will accept it also.

Reasons why people believe cultish nonsense in groups more so than individually include:

Stronger verification of the ideas based on a confirmation bias, by observing that others in the group also share the views. This could lead to overconfidence, and reduce the skepticism of accepting new ideas from others.
Hostility against outsiders leads one to amplify the characteristics of the group based mentality, often through hatred or violence.
Stereotyping: Believing that others within the group all accept the views of the group, whereas in fact they may be skeptical also. But nevertheless, their contribution in number to the group is going to lead others to accept its views and propaganda.

It may sound like the above may only apply to large social norms, but I think it can be applied to groups no matter how large or small, since everything has to start small anyway.

TLDR:

So to answer the question, I believe the reason feminists are so easily manipulated is due to them lacking self identity and self knowledge; thus forcing them have cling to a fake, collectivist identity or otherwise, for their own person, make them suffer emptiness, worthlessness, and loneliness.

Actually, I think fundamentally, this narrative of victimhood fed by feminism is the biggest thing. It's similar to Marxism or African American politics or a host of other political and religious movements across the world.

It works by identifying an oppressor. It's the partriarchy in the case of feminism. It uses some real societal issues to build up it's narrative that everyone in the in group is a victim and the only thing that matters is overcoming the oppressor. It acts as a powerful shoulder to cry on for the "victim" irrespective of whether the solutions it proposes are meaningful or not. Every single argument or event is twisted to propagate the agenda further to the point where there is no satiation possible.

At some point, all moorings to reality is lost. There's a backlash from non cultists and the movement crumbles. Feminism is not the only movement to go through this cycle and it will not be the last. The key thing is this seems to have something to do with the human psyche and it's a natural process and not necessarily something that's artificially engineered

Hello, I'm also a woman, and I want to answer your question but there's nothing specific to respond to. What are some examples of "brainwashing" you've seen? Anyways, I'll give some general responses about why people have unjustifiable political beliefs and hope you respond.

the average person does not have the time or background to read and understand research papers, so people believe what the rest of their friends/family/media in the area tells them.
feelings can cloud judgement. If you feel unsafe, you will think you are. If you feel safe, same situation
women benefit from women's movements, so they're less likely to have a reason to think about men's problems or question the feminism that helps them
- to be fair, a movement can be beneficial without insidious motivations. Just saying that there's no reason to leave that comfort zone

I'm surprised no-one has pointed this out thus far but, women are not the only ones who are brainwashed. It's probably harder to see in the men around you because you don't know their lived experiences as well and probably (understandably) take their word for it when they talk about it, but I guarantee you that just as many men as women are brainwashed.

People just don't like confronting their beliefs.
