I'm 22 years old. I had my son when I was 18. I haven't seen him since I was 19. I'm all the way across the country. But I pay my child support and send christmas and birthday gifts. Truthfully, I feel like shit because I'm obviously not he best father. But I really want to try. I'm putting myself through school so I can make a better income and be able to better provide for him and be there. I've been working on visiting next month. I have been wanting to for a long long time. Over the last few years, my ex has been saying I should give up my rights as a parent. Lately, it's been more of a frequent thing. She's pregnant again with her new boyfriend and she has been messaging me rather persistently about giving up my rights. I was hoping someone can give me help or advice. Words of wisdom or encouragement? I just want something to hold onto to help me get by.
edit I suppose I should have added this earlier. I want to be there. I want to be a better father. I don't have any plans on giving up rights. Things have been hard, but I am determined to make it better. I just want some words of encouragement to help me through a mentally tough time with all the nonsense I've been dealing with lately. I refuse to stop trying to be a part of my son's life.
