No, it isn't

I'm having a baby boy in March. His mother is against circumcision after I made all the arguments against it that we are all familiar with. Now shes in the anti camp. I think she never really thought anything of it until I explained how horrible it really is.

I will be watching my baby like a hawk to make sure he comes home with us unmolested by the doctors scissors.

What a great dad. Thank you for protecting your son.

Just remember to tell him to wash under his foreskin when he's old enough. I was never taught that and I have phimosis so I think it's linked. Also congratulations

Phimosis is not related to washing. It cannot be diagnosed until late puberty. The prepuce (foreskin/clitoral hood) is fused to the glans at birth and remains so until it naturally releases during puberty. It affects less then 1% of adult males. Steroid creams can solve the problem 87% of the time. For those times where the cream does not work a small cut can be done on the ridged band to allow the glans out. No tissue removal required.

Wait it's not linked? I heard many times bad hygiène could lead to phimosis?

[–]goodfoobar 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Phimosis is just a glans and ridged band size thing which can be fixed with stretching. Don't know where this washing story came from. It might make sense if vigorous washing or other activity resulted in stretching.

Colour me shocked. Another pro-circumcision article that doesn't even consider that a right to bodily autonomy even exists for male infants.

How is this still a question in 2019?

[–]Blutarg 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well, we have to do something to stop all those sexually active babies from getting HIV.

[–]mgtowolf 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hamster, hamster, hamster, don't really discuss ethics at all.

[–]Blutarg 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. That was easy!

[–]chadwickofwv 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it's unethical to do it to a baby girl then it is unethical to do it to a baby boy.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No.

[+]Doobie_2325555 -7 points-6 points-5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Of course it is. How is that even a question?

[–]intactisnormal 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Give your argument that it's ethical please and thank you.
