Not really the case for most people. The small few where it may be true for aren't good people. And it is also not a gendered issue, there are definitely men who are also one track minded at social events.

I'm not even sure what you are trying to get at here? That single women who go to a social event are also potentially looking for a dating partner? And that if they don't find the men they talk to interesting that then they won't want to pursue dating them? That's like... how human relations work. You meet people, and then based on that interaction you augment your relationship accordingly.
