Considering that they can retract their emotions a day later an call it rape, why fucking bother trying?

It isn't that men can't pick up women's emotions. It's that women convolute those emotions, lie about them, fake them entirely, and build a hedge into their every expression. Trying to nail down a woman's emotions is like trying to get a shapeshifter to show it's original shape and be honest about it.

Research also shows that women prize men who try to understand them.

From their point of view, you'd be surprised how few even try. Many women are lonely even when surrounded by warm bodies. Just being able to read them, a little, is why I've always found friends among strangers.

Then again, this crowd might be more surprised by how often I've seen women obsess over men's emotional needs, even if they won't be surprised how often women can't understand the opposite sex either...

What concerns me more is that women have no trouble interpreting the emotion of both men and women. Or at least to my knowledge women have no trouble identifying with men, AND women. Whereas men tend to be unable to identify with women but able to identify with men.

Why is this?

I think its because men are taught not too, while given the media is saturated with men and their characters it's pretty much obvious that women HAVE to anyway by default since characters who are female and prominent are in short supply usually.

But that is only my limited point of view.

I mean, I personally know that as a Maleguy I even had trouble identifying with women, and still do. And deep down, I think its because of the internalized idea that somehow identifying with a woman is feminine or girly and therefore bad. I mean I wouldn't want to be seen as gay or something right? Right? I would be made fun of by other men.
