Some of the reasons I'm never having a family!
[–]Ahlruin62 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (15 children) | Copy Link
it gets extra wild because a woman can lie say your the father even if you DONT KNOW HER and still even if proved not to be, be required to pay for the child. "because some one has to" or if you ever donate sperm wich is suposed to be anonymous and have 0 reprocusions can still have any and all possible children seek you out.
man donates sperm and gets sued for child support https://www.cnn.com/2014/01/23/justice/kansas-sperm-donation/index.html
man donates sperm has shit loads of kids track him down dox him reveal his sperm was used to create over 200 children https://www.theguardian.com/science/2018/nov/24/sperm-donor-man-who-fathered-200-children
detroit orders man to pay child support for kid that is not his and even issues a warrant because he wont pay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIektQ__EGw
and theirs so much more.

The lesson here is actually go through the official process of donating sperm, and not just answering an ad on the internet.
Also noting that in this case, the women involved backed the man and argued that he shouldn't pay anything.

Provide a source for that first one, which is total bullshit. That's never happened without something else going on. Like the guy in question refused to show up to court, so has no one to blame but himself. You dont honestly believe theres a guy out there paying child support to a women he doesnt even know do you?
[–]KnightofNarg 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
.... huh? Provide a source for the link that is the source?
[–]DanMooreTheManWhore 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
You're telling me theres a link up there where a guy was not the father, didnt know the woman, showed up to all his court appearances and he's still paying? The sources must be taking you to a different place than me. Or you people are fucking idiots. It's probably that
[–]KnightofNarg -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Just.... Watch the third link ffs
[–]DanMooreTheManWhore 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Did you watch the link? He clearly knows the woman.
[–]KnightofNarg 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
So a women knows him, that doesn't make him the father of her child. Even if he had sex with her, who cares? Kid has a real father out in the world, she needs to figure that out, not him.
[–]DanMooreTheManWhore 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You're right, the state also dropped the case once he started fighting it instead of ignoring it. The point is, op is going around saying women are just claiming random men as the father and the courts are making them pay and you absolute fucking idiots are just eating that shit up. You're all should be removed from the gene pool.

A recently read an article of a gay man that helped a lesbian couple get pregnant. I believe they were all longtime close friends, but had a lawyer write up a contract anyways relieving the man from any responsibility. Anyway the couple broke up a few years later and the biological women sued her ex for support and lost, the ex was the bread winner by a long shot. So then the mother sues the male. The contract apparently was meaningless. She got the judgement for support, back support and penalties.
**Edit. Almost forgot the best part. The contract did apply for the male giving up parental rights. So he was unable to have even visitation rights. 🥴
Such an unbelievable bias across the board.

I see your point but would argue that the man does have the right to “terminate” his impending fatherhood...simply by disappearing. Lots of guys do this.

Not really, that's not a legal option, that just going on the lamb, and I don't think it should be used as any comparison to the female options considering none of these require the women to hide from friends, family and the government.
[–]mikebong64 12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Disappear into what? Thin air? You're still on the hook if you have any judgements. You have everything tied to your SSN.
[–]SirYouAreIncorrect 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No they really do not, you can not "disappear" as simply as you seem to believe, the government will track you down, garnish wages, seize you tax refunds, etc etc etc
Even if you leave the country this will still happen
Very rarely can a man just "disappear" and no "lots" of guys do not do it that is a TV Trope that is provable false, while there are lots of fatherless children, mainly because the mother removes the child from their life. There are not "lots" of men not paying support either directly to the mother, or to the state

Right? Better to kill the child if the mother doesn't want to be a parent.
[–]Veliannah3 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link
Except in most cases its not a child, its a little clump of cells.
Abortion is our right just like it should be a right for men to reject fatherhood.
You can and should advocate for men's rights without trying to debate women's.
[–]lumberjackadam -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
And you're just $40 worth of lab chemicals. Rationalize it however you like; that's still a child. I firmly believe children are a gift from God, and that all life is sacred.
That being said, I believe 'paper abortion' should be an option for both parties.
[–]Veliannah2 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
You can believe that children are a gift from your god all you want but that doesn't change the fact that a clump of cells its hardly comparable to a child.
We're definitely entitled to not sacrifice our bodily autonomy to be a host for said clump of cells.
[–]lumberjackadam -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Unless you were raped, you haven't given up your bodily autonomy. This is a predictable outcome of a specific activity.
[–]Veliannah2 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
Consent to sex is not consent to pregnancy.
Forcing me to keep an unwanted pregnancy would be forcing me to give up my bodily autonomy.
If I drive somewhere I'm not consenting to be in a car crash just because its a predictable outcome of a specific activity.
[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is. You're accepting the risk by engaging in the behavior.
See above.
You. are accepting the risk. You know it could happen, and have decided that you are ok with that outcome at the predicted rate of occurrence.

This isnt really equivalent. All of the cant choose options basically hold for women as well. If a guy doesnt want to let his kid go up for adoption, then he would get custody, and the mother would then pay child support. The only option a woman has that a man does not is to carry a baby to term or not, which a man doesnt even have the capability too. I know this is an unpopular opinion on this sub, but this is apple's to oranges.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You're absolutely right. I signed the paperwork for my son to be adopted after a multi year struggle, and its clearly defined that both parents need to agree to it. I think there are big issues affecting paternal rights including the mothers choice to abort (which is never going to go away for better or worse), child support enforcement, and the matter of going to court to establish custody which can take months if not years to get a proper routine.
Adoption is not one of these issues though. I do wonder though, if the mother can give the child up for adoption before the father can establish paternity and or establish custody, because i know for me it took 4 months to establish paternity and another 2 to 3 months to establish a custody schedule. It took over 8 months to get a new child support hearing after I left my job, but it never happened because I was deemed low priority.
Of course the support payments don't stop though, so that's when the enforcement becomes too powerful, and forces fathers, like me, out.
[–]SirYouAreIncorrect 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is problems on the adoption front in many area's
While it is true that fathers have to agree to the adoption, it is false that by default if they choose to raise the child they will get support payments from the mother, it is also false that the mother has to wait for the father to sign before giving up her parental rights, in the case of adoption the father has the choice to take the child, or also give up his rights but the mothers ability to give them up is never in question she has already severed them.
These is done via a wide range of so called "safe harbor" provisions that protect mothers from criminal child abandonment charges
[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
All she had to do is say she doesn't know who the father is, and you'll get no say whatsoever.
[–]DanMooreTheManWhore 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Theres legal recourse for that. Dont be a moron.
[–]lumberjackadam 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
What recourse? If you find out about the child after a few years, what do you imagine you could do?
[–]DanMooreTheManWhore 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Get joint custody? What do you mean what can you do?
And how are you going to do that? What hoops do you think you'll have to jump through to compel a woman, who claims she doesn't know, you to have her child tested to see if you're actually the father? What do you imagine you can do if she never tells you she had a kid, tells the hospital staff she doesn't know who the father is, and give the child up for adoption?

"Can choose to not be a mother during pregnancy"? Interpreted generously, it seems to mean that a pregnant woman can choose to do things that aren't physically good for the fetus. Obviously men aren't gestating the fetus, so it seems weird to complain they can't "choose" to do those things.
This is in reference to abortion. Women have the legal right to abortion and neither the unborn child nor the father have any claim over what happens pre-birth. Many Mens rights advocates (including myself) believe that men should be afforded financial abortion rights pre-birth, at any time during the pregnancy a man can opt out of any rights, privileges, and responsibilities toward the child, including financial support
The base argument against that is "well he chose to have sex so he as to take responsibility for that action" The problem with that is one would not say the same for the Mother. If the mother has physical abortion rights, then the father should have paper abortion rights. That would be equality under the law
"Can choose to give the child to the state" - a man can choose this too. "Can ... drop her baby off" - a man can choose this too.
Incorrect, in every state I am aware of there is no legal mechanism for a man to remove his parental responsibilities without the consent of the mother who can revoke that at any time. If the mother wants to give up the child she can walk away, at that point the father may have a choice to walk away as well however in some states he does not even get that choice
However at any time if the mother chooses to raise the child herself the father is legally responsible for support payments with no way to opt out.
"Can expect the state to force the male partner to subsidize her choice" - a man can choose this too.
Again this is in regards to child support payments, Often times in Family courts mothers are given much more freedom from payments by the court systems when they walk away from their children giving parental control to fathers. It is not uncommon for fathers to be left impoverished by child support payments where mothers are given low or no payments what so ever largely because often time the courts will use the mothers actual income as the base for payment calculations where fathers the use a "earning potential" standard that is legal under the law to claim that while the father may make only X, he "should be" making Y under some nebulous metric based on his field, experience etc.
"Can expect to be subsidized by the other parent, even if that other parent is proven not to be the biological parent" - so the man isn't biologically related, but is still a parent with parenting responsibility? Why is that a problem?
The most common cause of this is a married couple where the mother had an affair that resulted in a child. She never revealed this affair and the husband finds out a few year (or many years) later that he is not the biological father of the child. This results in a divorce. I find it abhorrent that people would support the mother then being able to extract a huge financial reward from the person she committed the most immoral fraud a person could commit on another person. paternity Fraud
[–]ChaosOpen 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Essentially it is saying that the woman has the right to abandon her parental duties while the father doesn't. The woman can choose whether or not to have an abortion and other than trying to convince her he can do nothing else. If she chooses to have it but he doesn't(such as them being in high school and unable to properly raise a child) is has to pay child support reguardless of his will, failure to do so, reguardless of the situation, will land him in jail. Child support payments come before rent, food, and utilities. If he doesn't have enough money to pay both, he goes without. And child support payments scale with income, but don't go down, so if the father was paying a lot but loses his job, it is almost impossible to have the payment reduced due to his lack or reduced income.
