A couple of years ago, I was out with my girlfriend for the weekend, we planned on eating out, going to the movies and going back home with beer/wine and snacks etc.
At some point, I had to go to a cashpoint, to get some money, there were two girls in front of me, and when they'd finished they walked off. Approaching the cashpoint, I noticed there was still money at the slot, which I took out and counted and totalled about £150.
Now, I consider myself an honest guy, so I did what I thought was the honourable thing, ran around the corner and approached the two girls. my exact words were "excuse me?" to which I was replied with "Eww! not on my worst day!" that's enough to knock the wind out of anyone's sails!
With hindsight, I should have just said "OK, thanks" and walked away with the money, but being the muppet I was, I actually just said "You left this at the cashpoint" at which one of the girls frantically checked her purse before gushing "Oh my God, Thanks!"
I may have been too slow off the mark, my girlfriend, however, was not...she'd heard the disparaging remark one of the girls had made, grabbed my hand and said "In your dreams"
I've never been so embarrassed and proud at the same time
