The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It’s a coming of age movie about a high school boy who is very depressed, trying to stop being a “wallflower” in life and make friends. It includes the theme you mention though it takes a long time to become obvious. The movie is a bit heavy handed with certain themes at times, but I think it’s worth it for the overall message and story.
