it seems the more an environment wants to be "PC" the the more it is incapable of an egalitarian outlook.
my whole life i have been a strong advocate for women's right, and i still am. i only started paying attention to men's rights more recently.
whilst advocating for equality on any women's issue, i had always felt a unanimous acceptance from western society towards the goal of helping women when they were in need. however, now advocating for men in a similar manner, i have noticed one of the most blatant and strong movements against it that i have ever seen about any rights issue in my lifetime.
in this case, a post i just made in /r/canada http://www.reddit.com/r/canada/comments/1h5ryh/statscan_survey_retail_jobs_among_most_common_and/car8br8?context=3 *please don't vote-spam, i'm just linking for context
this is just one instance, but it's an incredibly common experience, which i assume most of you already know. the issue is the anti-male teachings spread without shame by feminism. it is so thick and so pervasive that egalitarianism, or calling out sexism against men itself has become "misogynistic" or "evil."
i hope that one day men's rights may be taken as seriously as women's rights. at least up to an egalitarian standard.
it is the same issue as "women and children first" or the urge to save women rather than men, just in a less blatant but similarly inert attitude of the human psyche.
do any of you have comments or conversation about how misandry is "benevolent" in the eyes of the public?
or rather, can you think of a way to combat this ideal which is not only intrinsic to human nature, but so closely tied to political correctness by the hands of feminism?
i feel that it is the strongest opponent to men receiving the standard of equality that women have so thoroughly held.
it's ridiculous how while only having "videogames have boobs", "men are rapists", and "wage gap myth reiteration" as their issues in developed countries, they still hold such a high mantle over men who are experiencing far more blatant and heavy gender bias in education, judicial systems, law, the workplace, and other places.
(if women received 63% longer jail time/were more likely to be executed due to their gender, it would be their top issue. as well as genital mutilation still being an issue for males, and victims being unquestionably ignored on the basis of their gender.)
