Not entirely sure what you're talking about, but porn featuring the theme of "hot girl + nerdy guy" has been around, probably as long as the concept of a "nerd" has existed. If you're not a super mainstream porn studio, the only real way to stand out and get an audience is to cater to a niche, and it makes sense to target the "lonely geek who wants to bang the unusually sexy gamer girl next door" demographic with a fantasy catered exclusively to them.

Now as to the ethics of doing this... well... porn in general is... a little bit problematic in that sense. Specifically, it can be psychologically addictive in much the same way as gaming, shopping, or gambling can be, and like any company that derives profit from addiction, there will always be a certain level of exploitation there. With that in mind, a producer focusing their efforts in aiming their content to lonely gamer guys doesn't seem any more, or less exploitative than porn catering to other groups, so if you're okay with porn in general, this shouldn't really raise any new alarms for you.

I think they are just making content they want to make and advertising in subs they think are relevant. There are almost certainly a large group of vulnerable men who watch and use their content. Is it intentional exploitation? I’m not sure they care if the men feel exploited, I think a lot of the women think they are having a positive impact on their customer base and are sometimes making good money in the process, they are capitalizing on men’s loneliness, but I don’t think they are being malicious they just want an easy way to make a lot of money.

BTW I’ve never paid for porn, just because I find it unnecessary for me. I’ve been to strip clubs and paid for lap dances. I’m not opposed to porn of course. It’s alright to make money with your body, we all do. But it’s not okay to specifically target vulnerable people of course. Is this the male version of a romance scam?

I think to assume that such people are specifically targeting others because of their emotionally vulnerable implies a level of malevolence that borderlines on the cartoonishly evil.

Ultimately it just comes down to business 101. A business, or class of businesses, succeeds because they fill a need in a society.

Do I like the way that the need is being fulfilled? Not at all. But neither am I going to begrudge people their occupation of choice because, at the end of the day, people need a living.

Your assumption is right imo. I mean, look at that weeb hentai stuff in Japan. It only exists because of the rising number of Hikikomori. Socially isolated people might be a good market, not only in porn, with "gamer girls" who they can relate to, but in video games as well. People who are unsuccessful in life try to "achieve" something in video games, even if it means to pay money in Gacha games to be respected in the online community.
