Question: What is causing the decrease in male graduation and college participation? I know there isn't a concrete definitive cause but rather it's multiple things but I'd love to hear someone who knows about the issue explain it. Thanks!

School systems are tremendously biased against males. Men often have had a gut full of it by the time university is an option.
There appears to be a deliberate policy of expanding the kind of low value degrees (philosophy, literature, English, astrology and plam reading etc.) that women go for.
Despite all claims to the contrary, manhood is largely defined by capacity as a breadwinner and womanhood is not. Boys, therefore, largely outnumber girls in trade schools where they learn practical skills.
There is a range of other biasses against males at colleges including, but not limited to; a large number of female only grants, with male only grants being almost non-existent, selection bias and "affirmative action" almost always discriminating in favour of women, the ability of women to get through college using their charms and manipulation skills, the ability of women to find sugar daddies to finance their attendance, that anti-male attitude that pervades modern colleges with the compulsory sexual harassment lectures and other anti-male propaganda.

No male teachers. Masculine role models are enormously important
Its proven that female teachers give girls better grades than boys. Male teachers don't btw.
The curriculum is designed to fit the needs of girls, to advance them
The behaviour which is needed to succeed in school is better suited for girls
School got less competitive, which is a key factor for boys to thrive
Typical boy behaviour like playful scuffling gets disciplined
Boys constantly getting passivly discouraged for their accomplishments, by praising only girls

Men's provider role has been almost extinguished. More men than ever before in Western history are single. With the advent of online dating and the influence of media more women than ever are not "settling" for a relationship with a man just to have a provider. Due to not having that driving force of needing to be successful for someone else, many men just don't see a value in improving themselves, as most could with no problem lead a very minimalist existence and chose to do so.

I've seen an argument that goes like this:

Some years back, it was decided to pack more material into the school curriculum. Because of that many of the existing content elements had to be pushed down into earlier grades in order to make room for the new material.

As a result, kids are now being taught to read much earlier than they were before. Unfortunately the verbal centres in boys brains develop later than they do in girls brains, and later than the time when teachers are now trying to teach boys to read.

So boys struggle with learning how to read in school, they fall behind girls and many of them fail because they're just not ready to learn that particular skill yet. So they get discouraged about school and learning in general, lose motivation and never catch up again.

I don't know how true that is. It sounds plausible and the timing of that change seems to line up with the time when boys started to fall behind in a major way.

Outside of STEM a college degree isn't worth what it once was. Guys who don't want to go into STEM are often opting out. The much better barometer for how men are doing is to look at the gender ratio in degree programs that lead to decent careers.

Massive sex discrimination at the high school level. High schools are run by female feminists who hate men and take it out on the male children in their care.
