March 8, here in Australia it's the 'International Woman's day'.

This is where we are losing guys.

At it's core totally worthwhile. All around this day there is an intense focus. Public events, article released, stats published, book releases and all other manner of gynocentric materials, events and information. All sorts of other events crop up for local support groups and fund raising.

The actual recognised day is the figurehead but with all of the ancillary activity there is a wave of public awareness and focus.

Around Father's day here the opposite seems true. Lots of events and publicity around violence, alcohol, drugs, financial dependancy and all manner of negative things. The events themselves are probably worthy causes however the general mood and public awareness around this time is already primed for negative attitudes towards men.

It's a small step from association to correlation and in a world governed these days more by media presentation than by logical determination it becomes more and more likely every year that the discussion at knitting clubs, hens nights, quilting bee's, covens and other gynocentric meeting events that the slippery slope from correlation to causation will claim more popularity.

While we are fighting to maintain the truth in the courts, government and other institutions where we measure the price of the war of the sexes, we are clearly losing in the battleground of public opinion and social media. The one place where these things seem to matter in the 21st century.
