Hey guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

I've read through a lot of the material here, and I agree with a good amount of it.

About myself and my beliefs:

I'm 28 and looking to make a permanent commitment to a girl I love. I was going to marry her, but I have come to the conclusion that marriage, as an institution, is a bad idea for me.

There are various benefits, to be sure, but most of them are trivial or will not benefit me in almost any way. (It is a partnership, but why would I commit to something optional that does not benefit me in any meaningful way?)

Most rights that would be given to my wife can just as easily be given by a will and extra days off, lower insurance rates and other fairly minor benefits are not worth the cost of marriage and a potential divorce. (Even if there is no wedding ceremony and we pay $100 for the certificate, drafting a prenuptial agreement is costly)

As for tax benefits, this mostly applies with disparate incomes. Since we have similar jobs in similar fields, this will not be the case. (this is not a great source, but it references a study)

There are simply too many risks (alimony, property distribution, etc) for me to want marriage.

Given these and other reasons, I have convinced her into what is essentially cohabitation.

We will eventually want children, and I'm still debating how to handle the legal issues involved.

My goal in this venture is to avoid as many retarded laws that could potentially screw me over. There are apparently biased marriage, alimony and parental rights laws that suck for men.

I can avoid most marriage related laws, but I cannot make (almost) any legal agreements about a child that is not born yet.

My questions to you guys:

How do I get her to agree to a paternity test without a big fight?

You can argue away marriage fairly easily, but paternity comes down to whether I trust her or not. I can't find a good way to bring this up tactfully. (For anyone that asks, I do trust her. I wouldn't be committing to her if I didn't. The point is that retarded laws exist, I don't want any part in the way the state chooses to handle paternity, and a one-time cost of $100 or so is much safer to me than a 6% chance of raising and paying for a child that is not mine)

How do you make game theory using friends that aren't complete assholes?

I am very new to 'game'. I can't argue with the results; the relationship is much better. However, one of the tenets is to make friends with others that use game theory. I can't seem to find a single friend-worthy guy. Now, maybe I just suck at meeting people, but I haven't found a single person who does who isn't a pretty big douche. I don't mean cocky or 'alpha', I mean someone that doesn't oh, say...

steal a girl's wallet intentionally pick a fight call a girl a colossal bitch for rejecting him etc.

Where/how do I find people that don't do this?
