I think you have to have issues with man-hating feminists to be an MRA. It would be strange for them to be supportive of them given the propensity of these women to actively seek to restrict and remove male rights: such as rights to due process, presumption of innocence; not to mention restrictions on the ability to earn a living, and various other double standards of feminist activism. This may not apply to “egalitarian feminists”, but too many feminists who claim they have no animosity towards men support at least some of the above. And very mainstream feminist organisations like NOW oppose reform of custody laws, for all the pretence that these laws are part of “patriarchy” (they’re actually the result of earlier feminist campaigns). No significant feminist group seeks to reform the divorce/custody/family court paradigm, for all the claims that it’s part of “patriarchy”. But plenty do oppose any change or even oppose investigations into the prevalence of false accusations of violence and abuse to gain advantage!

So it’s not hard to see why MRAs would be at best suspicious of feminists. You also cannot compare the influence of feminism to MRAs at this point in time. You have Gender Studies departments in most major universities and a massive set lobbyist organisations that politicians and Courts pay attention to. MRAs are just a few blogs and other forums and small groups in the earlier stages of building the sorts of networks feminists established over 50 years ago. I don’t mean to diminish their work - it’s difficult to build something from nothing, which is why the second wave of feminism took so long to get going. Nor is it helped by constant propaganda that men have no problems and all the power etc. So it’s an uphill struggle for them. But feminists overplaying their hand (with the constant demonisation of men) and the ongoing injustices in the Family Courts are having an effect. But they’re by no means equal at present.

Treating an issue that affects both genders like it only affects one is dismissal, especially when the divide is 50/50 (more on men's side in this case).

I don't act hostile when women talk about their experience with rape. I question them when they say, "Rape is a serious women's issue and we need to teach men not to rape."

It’s an issues when they are being murdered just for being men.. it’s an issues when rape victim are told to just man up it’s an issue when they are treated un fairly in court it’s an issue when their genitalia is mutilated the moment they are born, it’s an issue when women pedo rapist rapes a minor boy and it’s called “sleeping with them”.
