Sharp Magazine's piece on the MRM

I think this is a pretty horrible article, though it may be par for the course for articles on the MRM. Where to even begin?

So much strawmanning. Look at the illustration on the third page. "This is a man's world." "Battered Man Syndrome", "Man Power". I think the illustrator was basically trying to make a genderswapped version of a stereotypical feminist rally, but I don't know how self-aware the artist was, or how literally the typical reader of this publication will take it. They're probably not informed enough to know the difference. In any case, I've never heard MRA's use any of these slogans, and they do not reflect actual MRA issues or sentiments. Gives fuel to idiots who think the MRM is a mirror image of feminism.
Not-so-subtle attempts to manipulate the readers' opinion of the character of the people being portrayed. "...internet trolls with legitimate concerns". Each MRA mentioned also comes with a description of their appearance designed to make the reader picture a social outcast or eccentric weirdo.
It hardly needs to be said, but this article uses the standard strategy of generalizing the "manosphere" rather than focusing strictly on the MRM. This allows them to give examples of misogyny outside the MRM and tie it unfairly to the MRM.

I could go on and on, but it would take forever. There's way too much to analyze here. Overall, I find this hardly an honest article. It acknowledges legitimate issues, yet the author found it more important to spend time making MRA's look like weirdo losers, and to focus on making the movement as a whole look misguided. Again, this is all standard practice in these articles, though.

Well the title was enough to deter me from reading the ensuing inevitable garbage.

I thought it was a good article. I do think some MHRA's go overboard on blaming feminists, however, when it comes to family law issues, domestic violence and men's spaces in Canada, it has been feminists and feminist organizations who have been most vocally opposed.

So, If you don't want me to be anti-feminist, don't interfere with men's issues.

The writer actually talked to MRAs. That puts it miles beyond most articles that just cite Manboobz and call it a day. The last few paragraphs honked me off. "Ah, MRAs you shoot yourselves in the foot with your anger. Stop blaming feminism, just go back to sleep..."

Tone policing aside, it was a decently researched article that captured several prominent voices in the cause
