Wealth inequality is NOT the worst it has been in human history. It is going the wrong way, but industrial capitalism has lifted more people out of grinding, peasant poverty than any other force ever.

You are correct that since the globalist, leftist takeover things have declined. This is not the conservative agenda. Conservatives are not blindly pro-business. Watch the Tucker Carlson video with Charlie Kirk, where he demolishes Libertarianism. THAT is a conservative view. Hillaire Belloc, G.K. Chesterton, Sam Francis, Pat Roberson - the paleocons swept from the scene by cucks like William F Buckley, Russel Kirk and then later the "neocons" who used to be (amazingly enough) Trotskyites.

I agree that any opposition to unrestrained free trade is good, be it from a Communist gun-grabber like Bernie or be it from a "Rockefeller Republican", civic nationalist like Trump.
The nonsense economists spout about "comparative advantage" has little or no meaning in an industrialized world, and fails to account for labor mobility. There are other reasons as well - many of them outlined in the excellent book Free Trade Doesn't Work.

A trade policy somewhere behind isolationism and globalism is clearly indicated; both extremes are ideological and disastrous. Mercantilism gets a bad rap.

I favor freer markets than we have now, greater separation between government and economy, tariffs and other measures to promote domestic industry, but recognize the need for some regulation.

Some specific policies/issues:
No central bank. Andrew Jackson, best president ever; Woodrow Wilson the worst!
No gender/race/orientation quotas; restore free association.
Many fewer required licenses (allowing, for example, anybody to cut hair!)
A focus on enforcement after the fact, rather than certification or approval in advance. Go ahead and sell your airplane design; you'll be held accountable for the crashes, but won't have to prove it is safe before the first flight!
Focus regulation on ends and effects, rather than means.
Reset the time during which copyrighted works are protected to the way it was before the Sonny Bono Act in 1998. Resetting the interstate commerce clause, realizing that it was intended to prevent customs duties and such between the states.
Reimposition of usury laws widely discarded during the 1980's.
Reinstate of Glass-Steigal, or similar, to forbid banks from speculating in the markets.
Tariffs on foreign manufactured goods, to make up for low labor costs and lack of environmental regulation abroad.
Most regulation at a local level. Outlaw lobbying.
End corporate personhood (or, be able to "jail" companies, or give them the death penalty).
Less focus on the environment (especially "Global Warming"), but with a presumption of harm for all chemicals until proved otherwise (opposite of what we have now!)
Don't allow Federal standards to allow minimal levels of harmful behavior (it's below the limits for Cyanide release!). This is tricky, because some side effects are necessary if we want modernity and some degree of industrialization.
End the use of regulation, bureaucratic paperwork and expensive mitigations as barriers to entry for competition.
Barriers to capital leaving the country.

Anything Tucker Carlson says about economics (and governance) is probably correct (not least, his pointing out that Libertarians are utopian and simplistic.)
