Should we keep having higher standards for male stoicism and strength? Is it okay that girls be given more of a pass when they cry and become dependent on other people?

Should I as a parent insist that my male child told "big boys don't cry" more than my female child? Is raising boys to be more masculine than girls, and girls to be more féminine than boys, a good thing?

Or should I hold both genders to the same standards?

What is this sub's view on gender roles? Keep or reform? Return to the old? Or in with the new?
