I don't post too much of great value in these types of arguments, but I've been wondering about an argument that feminists make all the time-namely, that of the feminine being considered to be inferior to the masculine. While at first I strongly disagreed with this, I now think it may be true. However, I see this as stemming from male disposability rather than a perception that men are better than women.

It is presented as a major problem that the majority of important historical figures are male, yet we know that for each king there are thousands of slaves, which are also majority male. Yet men gain their identity from working in these roles, unlike women (i.e. baker, salesman, soldier, etc.). Because of this, men ended up performing the majority of the tasks that were deemed necessary to keep civilization running. So when feminists complain about masculinity being more valued, I believe that it is true that, especially in the past, masculinity was valued more than femininity. However, I think that "femaleness" is valued more than "maleness," and that this is why that distinction came to be. By providing a role in society for men that is considered superior to the one that women had, it could counterbalance the greater inherent value that they were seen as having.

This is why we see a lot of the "end of men" type bullshit nowadays from friendly folk such as Hanna Rosin; in order for men to be seen as valuable, they have to OUTPERFORM women in many important functions in the societal sphere. However, many indicators such as the college gap as well as women in their 20s outearning men suggests that the opposite is true, which is why we have so much of a perception that men are completely useless, since their most important purpose is what they can do for women. I think that is feminism is curtailed as well, it won't be for an egalitarian society, but for a much more Tradcon one as well. We will return to one in which men make up for their perceived lesser value.

TL/DR THE FEMININE HAS OFTEN BEEN SEEN AS LESS VALUABLE THAN THE MASCULINE BUT THIS IS TO COUNTERACT MALE DISPOSABILITY

EDIT: I'm REALLY TIRED right now, so the rightsbot version is going to look a little different. I also note that as much as I sometimes dislike him, I basically made a Demonspawn argument. I think we can have a more equal society, but we have to first bring issues such as this to public discourse for that to even begin to be possible.
