Why when extreme feminists, whom I feel necessary to distinguish from the seemingly far rarer and much more calm moderate feminists who actually do work for equality and are willing, to some extent, to listen to opposing opinions, set out to make laws protecting specifically women, is that "smashing the patriarchy" and not the perpetuation of the idea that women are weak and need protecting. Hold a door for someone out of courtesy, and you're an oppressive misogynist, but victimize an entire gender, which while there will be real victims within any group, many times the entire group is not victim, and you are empowering people. It would seem to me that by establishing a law benefiting the entirety of one gender that you are showing the gender as weak. Similarly, showing all members of a gender as victims would also seem to disempower them. To me, it seems that global victimization causes disempowerment, but perhaps I am missing something? Please, if you can, try to explain to me how it isn't.
