I'd love to see your entries!

I'll start with "Vivir para morir" ["Living to die"] (1991) by the Spanish electronic/synthpop group, Aviador Dro. I see it as about being a disposable male and resorting to cutthroat tactics to unsuccessfully try to escape male disposibility.

Below are the original Spanish lyrics, followed by my English translation:

ORIGINAL LYRICS

[Sample in English: “The homeless problem”]

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

It's done\ Stop thinking\ Stop endlessly going around in circles\ Otherwise, you might go crazy:\ You've been trained since childhood.\ This is the only truth\ School teaches you not to complain,\ To obey,\ To be just one more\ To send your opportunity to hell

Then the army makes you a man\ A number instead of a name\ “Follow your leader, throw your friend away”\ You'll never know what you've chosen for\ Now you're ready to work\ Perform, produce, and then end up\ Sitting on a park bench\ Thinking about who you are\ And where you failed.

Living to die

[Sample in English: “The homeless problem”]

Enter the coal mine\ Now you know what betrayal is\ Maybe you got out or maybe you stayed in\ You don't even remember how you started:\ In school you were a champion\ And then in your company you have no rival\ Ruthless and heartless\ Better a promotion than a friendship

You’re already under their control\ Payroll, stress, and competition\ It's the rat race\ So your life is cheap\ So you make them a profit\ From age fifteen to seventy\ You'll be the “90's boy”\ You'll pay income tax\
