I'm not so sure. It's not hiding that what these women did was wrong. They're "parenting fails" and clearly ashamed of what they've done. They're searching for advice on how not to be such total bitches. It's not a rally for women to brag about how they keep their men and children in line, it's a serious problem that these women know they have and know it's wrong, so they're reaching out for help.

From the title, I was expecting something a hell of a lot worse. I actually think the advice is pretty great - and I love how the columnist points out that yelling is just as bad as hitting in a lot of cases.

I must preface this by saying I have not studied this, but it would seem that single-instance parenting mistakes, even hitting a child in anger, would not cause nearly as much damage to the child's emotional development as constant, ongoing abuse that is the rule, not the exception.

I think therefore that it's perfectly reasonable that people are not calling for jailtime for these women. Nor should it be called for for men.

My mother hit me once when I was a kid. She slapped me across the face. I immediately slapped her back, and that was the only time we were violent with each other.

I don't consider her physically abusive and if someone had locked her up for that I would have been miserable.

Sorry guys, but this is indeed a men's issue.

That blurb about the mother yelling at her son on the school yard because of his grade on a test, and that it wasn't the first time she had done that, I'm sorry, but if a father had attempted to do the same thing, it would've elicited 911 calls from probably 30 or more people at the school (parents and teachers alike), the father would've been banned from campus, and there would probably be a cps inquiry.

Also, an article like this with fathers confessing their parenting failures wouldn't be met with such supportive advice, these guys would be told to check themselves into counseling or a psych hospital immediately.

And you would be right. They're entitled fucking bitches. They'd be screeching for a man's scalp and claiming he abused/sexually abused them if they did anything near what these cunts did.
