The high court ruled such an order did not violate the constitutional right to procreate, since one could still reproduce if they could pay for the child.

Can we make this a rule for everyone all the time?

I'm ok with providing free BC and abortions to those who can't afford it. Far cheaper in the long run.

He's got nine children, telling him not to have any more unless he can pay for them seems reasonable to me. I do wonder about the females in this sorry tale. Their motivation is never discussed, a woman just 'has' a baby. Like wind and rain, it's an act of god, you aren't allowed to question it.

The mother of baby number five didn't think there was a problem with this guy already having four children. The same with baby number seven and nine. It's that pre-selection thing that women hate to admit; he has babies so therefore his genes must be desirable.

i can just imagine them going up to a woman, and telling her that her pregnancy is a violation of a court order and it needs to be terminated.

Why is the man being told not to procreate? He has no say in whether or not a woman's pregnancy comes to term or if she keep the kid. Women have a choice, not men. They are the ones 100% responsible and who the judge should be ordering not to have kids they cannot afford (not that I entirely agree with that from a legal sense).

Men and women have a choice over a woman becoming pregnant, and I would agree that the man is equally responsible for the costs associated with the termination of the pregnancy. However, whether that pregnancy comes to term, of if the woman keeps the child, that's 100% up to her. Her choice, her responsibility--same as if she'd gone to a sperm bank and unilaterally decided to become a parent. Saying a man had a choice when he decided to have sex is the same as saying women shouldn't be allowed to get an abortion because she chose to become a parent when she spread her legs.

My mother was a social worker who would offer women on welfare with multiple kids a deal, if they got their tubes tied she would find better furniture for them. She had an arrangement with a like-minded doctor who would perform these operations for free. And she would go find donors for furniture and mattresses to give the fairly large single-mother families a bit nicer living condition.

I think she got something around 3 dozen women through the operation before a supervisor found out and asked her to stop.

Until HE can support them? Nothing is said of the women here who are just as responsible. Ordering him not to procreate is hilarious too as he cant force his sexual partners not to. This is truly bizzarre.
