I read it, there was some dumb shit though.

Like this one guy who was 6'5 300lbs saying he never feared being assaulted and called it male privilege.

I mean let's ignore that men are the most likely to be assaulted by a stranger, and if a woman is assaulted a guy like him is the most likely one to step in.

Hell, if a man is assaulted by a woman a guy like him is the most likely one to "help the damsel in distress."

He forgot guns exist

any weapon really.

Even a sharp 3" knife can make a real difference in a fight.

I teach martial arts and am around 6', 170 lbs. No giant, but a fairly big guy. I teach all students to LEAVE if a weapon comes out. Knife attacks are no joke.

That link make me moist. Of course, I could defend against any knife attack.

The privilege is that men don't have to fear it, because they've been tricked into thinking women are more commonly the victim of violence :)

Women have to live with their unjust fears :)

:)

For the vast majority of the first world such a fear is equally unjustified for men, despite being the vast majority of victims. The western world is a remarkably safe place and outside of a few high crime areas, you can generally walk around unmolested.

Now in those higher crime areas however, you better watch the fuck out if you're a guy. I grew up in a bad area and as soon as it's dark out there are people who will try and start fights because you glanced in their direction from across the road. Frankly I wouldn't want to be a woman in these areas either, though you'd likely just be harassed and not assaulted, it wouldn't be a guarantee by any means.

Oh I know it's still a low risk, especially since I'm generally non-confrontational. . . though I was jumped by a group of people when I was in 9th grade. Funnily enough, I was with my GF at the time and they let her walk away panicking not really knowing what to do.

It must be so exhausting to constantly believe that every man is a threat to you.

There is one long thread about women's fear in public. This one drives me absolutely nuts every time it's brought up. It is a fact that women are far less likely to be victims of violence in public than men. It's been true since they started collecting data on the subject. The only reason that women have this fear is because activists and the media have essentially fear-mongered for decades about it. It's not a rational fear, even for men unless you're in a very high crime area and rather than sympathizing, we should be holding those responsible to account for spreading a completely false narrative about women's vulnerability in public.

There was more wrong with that thread than there was right. Every single comment about a way that men have it rough was followed with "but what about the women" in some way.
